KKBOX Announces 'Top Korean Singers,' 'Top New Artists,' and 'Best K-pop Songs' in the First Half of 2021
KKBOX, Taiwan's largest online music site, hailed these K-pop artists - Super Junior, aespa, TWICE, IU, (G)I-DLE, and more - as artists who shone the most in the first half of 2021. Read on to know the results for each category!
On July 25, SJ Label, the agency of Super Junior, announced that the group has been selected as KKBOX's "Mid Year Top Korean Singer"!
Aside from these, member Yesung and the group's album, " The Renaissance," also topped other categories, proving their influence in Taiwan.
Meanwhile, influential stars IU, HyunA, TWICE, aespa, and more also entered the rankings for their respective categories, who established growing and stable fandom in Taiwan as well.
Super Junior Sweeps Records in the KKBOX Mid-Year Awards
SJ Label's Super Junior has been selected as the best Korean singer by Taiwan's largest online music site, KKBOX.
In particular, the voting result was based on the stream index of KKBOX users in the first half of the year.
As a result, Super Junior, who has a large streaming fanbase in Taiwan, won first place, while member Yesung also rose to fourth place, showing his unwavering popularity.
Furthermore, the "Kings of Hallyu" showcased their strong influence in the music industry for about 16 years after sweeping the second to tenth spot in the 2021 KKBOX Top 10 Korean Songs category. The music platform selected the most popular 20 songs in the first half of 2021.
All 10 tracks from Super Junior's 10th studio album "The Renaissance," released in March, have entered the top 20. This includes "House Party" (No. 2), "Burn the Floor" (No. 3), "More Days With You" (No. 4), "The Melody" (No. 5), "Closer" (No.6 ), "Raining Spell for Love - Remake Ver." (No. 7), "Paradox" (No. 8), "Mystery" (No. 9), "SUPER" (No. 10), and "Tell Me Baby" (No. 12).

Following Super Junior, IU also proved her power in Taiwan after ranking second in the "Top Korean Singers" category.
The "Nation's Sweetheart" also secured three spots for "Top 20 Korean songs": "Celebrity," which topped the list, "Lilac" at No. 14, and "Coin" at No. 15.
For the category "Top Korean New Artists," aespa, the junior group of Super Junior, sits atop the rankings.
Lastly, the current biggest among third gen-groups, TWICE and (G)I-DLE, also received recognition from Taiwan's music platform.
(G)I-DLE ranked third place for top Korean singers and their track, "HWAA," ranked 13th in the top Korean songs, while TWICE's track "Cry for Me" ranked No. 15 in the latter category.
