Former GFRIEND Sowon Joins IOK Company Under New Stage Name
On August 2 KST, a representative of IOK Company revealed that former GFRIEND leader and member, Sowon, has signed with the company. And not only that, but Sowon will be changing her stage name to Kim So Jung, which is her birth name, as she will start her new journey with the company as an actress.
"Sowon, who has been loved as the leader of GFRIEND, will be changing her name to Kim So Jung and take a new leap forward with IOK Company," said the representative.
They added that they are planning on fully providing support so that Kim So Jung (Sowon), who has an infinite amount of potential, can develop her talent without holding back so that she can show her skills and grow as an actress.

"Please show a lot of support and interest in the actress Kim So Jung and her career as she actively promotes in the future," added IOK Company.
Meanwhile, Kim So Jung made her debut as a member of Source Music's girl group, GFRIEND, back in January 2015. Since then, she has been loved by many fans - Buddy - for her colorful charms and skills, as well as her tall height that boasts a golden ratio of her beautiful visuals.
Besides promoting as an idol, Kim So Jung has also showed her ability in other aspects, such as becoming a host in MBC every1's "Look At Me" back in 2018 and KBS Joy's "Trend With Me" in 2019. She also showed off her versatility by winning an award at the 2019 Korea First Brand Awards, where she received the Beauty Icon award.
Following GFRIEND's sudden departure from Source Music and eventually disbanding after failing to negotiate contract renewals, the six members shared a handwritten letter to their fans addressing the disbandment.
