Red Velvet Joy Reveals the Real Story Behind Her Iconic 2017 MAMA Photo
There's a chance you might have seen one of Red Velvet Joy's iconic photo from when she was at the 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong. The photo, which was actually taken by a fan site called Wonders Never Cease, shows Joy wearing a beautiful short and glittery red dress, complimenting her beautiful physique and long black hair.
The picture immediately went viral, and Joy was praised for her beauty and was dubbed as the "Goddess of the Night." But how did the photo came to be?

On August 12, KST, Red Velvet appeared on the latest episode of "MMTG," where the host, Jaejae, showed viral and iconic photos of each of the Red Velvet members, with Seulgi, Joy, Irene, Wendy, and Yeri revealing the reason and story behind them.

During the broadcast, Jaejae brought up Joy's iconic photo, and the Red Velvet member finally revealed the real story behind it.
While showing the members the photo, Jaejae asked Joy if she knew she was being taken a photo, to which Joy vehemently denies, and explains the reason behind it.

She explains that back then, she was actually wearing braces. However, her braces suddenly came off that day.
"It hurt so much, and it was bothering me," said, Joy.
Both Jaejae and the members were surprised to hear her reason - she was just touching her braces!

"It [MAMA] was overseas so I couldn't go to a dentist. My braces came undone suddenly and the wire kept poking me. So we cut if off with a nipper, and I was touching it because it was bothering me," added Joy, finally revealing what transpired for the iconic photo to look like that!
Jaejae commented how the photo looked like a scene from a movie, while the others complimented Joy for looking absolutely gorgeous.

Red Velvet is gearing up for their upcoming comeback with their sixth mini-album, "Queendom."
On August 13, KST, SM Entertainment dropped the teaser for Red Velvet's music video of "Queendom," which shows the members working in a vibrant shop and having tea and snacks in a magical nature.
