'MAMA 2021' Update: Mnet Announces Docu & Commentary Lineup, Schedule + Where to Watch 'MAMA: The Original K-pop Awards'
Prior to the return of MAMA this December 2021, Mnet prepared a broadcast that will cover the 12 years of history of the largest awards ceremony in Korea, "MAMA: The Original K-pop Awards." In this documentary, huge artists 2NE1, TWICE, EXO Kai, Psy and more participated.
On Thursday, October 28, Mnet is set to unveil the untold story from Mnet ASIAN MUSIC AWARDS (MAMA) for the past 12 years (2009 to 2021), through "MAMA: THE ORIGINAL K-POP AWARD."
Lineup, Schedule, What to Expect and Where to Watch 'MAMA: The Original K-pop Award'
According to Mnet, the first episode of the documentary will air on October 28 at 8 p.m. KST.
In this broadcast, K-pop fans will go down their memory lane through MAMA's history, with the narration of actor Yeo Jin Goo.
The docu particularly discuss how MAMA established itself as a global awards ceremony through unconventional stages and external expansion, such as legendary stages of top singers and collaborations with various global artists.
K-pop's status, which has grown in the global music market, will also be introduced.
The broadcast will also introduce the legendary K-pop artists, who shone during MAMA in the past years, and give their insights about the awards ceremony.
MAMA lineup includes:

- Park Jinyoung (hereinafter J.Y. Park)
- Psy
- CL (2NE1)
- MAMAMOO Hwasa
- Super Junior
- TWICE
- EXO Kai;
as well as music business experts who are active in countries around the world.
Local fans can watch the broadcast through the television channel, Mnet, while global fans can watch the broadcast clips through the Mnet K-pop YouTube channel.

MAMA Commentary to Air in November + Lineup and Broadcast Schedule
Following the original documentary, "MAMA Commentary" will also air wherein top-tier K-pop acts and iconic artists will talk about the behind-the-scene and meaning of MAMA.

"MAMA Commentary" will air on November 4 at 8 p.m. KST.
Also, additional artist commentaries will broadcast, to be revealed in the episode.
MAMA 2021 to Kick off in December Led by MC Lee Hyori
The main awards ceremony, MAMA 2021, will kick off on December 11. This year, MAMA will be held under the concept of "Make Some Noise."
Through the language of K-pop, it means to respect each other's values without prejudice beyond the walls of the country, race, and generation and to experience the power of powerful music that makes the world a bigger one.
Also, Lee Hyori has been selected as the first female host and open the door to a global music festival where music fans from all over the world become one.
