Jeon Somi Shares How She Became Friends with aespa Giselle + Reveals She Had 'Celebrity Disease' During I.O.I Debut
On JaeJae's "MMTG," Jeon Somi revealed how she became friends with Giselle of aespa. The solo artist shared her journey as an idol and recalled the time she experienced "celebrity disease."
On November 11, Jeon Somi appeared on the SBS web entertainment show "MMTG-Civilization Express" (hereinafter "MMTG").
In the broadcast, the "XOXO" singer showed a tiki-taka chemistry with MC JaeJae, and during their fun conversation, Somi also shared some stories about her debut and friends in the industry.

While Somi and JaeJae went on carpool (ride-sharing), the two artists who shared the same MBTI of ENFP immediately clicked together and had a fantastic dance time.
When aespa's "Savage" suddenly played, Somi mentioned that she's friends with aespa Giselle. Curious, JaeJae then asked the story of how the two stars met.
"I approached her first. After exchanging numbers, I see her every other day," Somi honestly responded, drawing attention by showing off her extraordinary affinity.

Somi narrated that she saw Giselle when she recommended her previously released track, "DUMB DUMB," and emphasized she can't let it slide and decided to "flirt."
When she found out one of her dancers also worked with aespa, Somi made the "first move" and asked for the idol's number.
In particular, Somi and Giselle earlier flaunted their close friendship through a TikTok challenge for Somi's latest song, "XOXO."
Jeon Somi Confesses She Once Had 'Celebrity Disease'
As the broadcast went on, Jeon Somi also coolly admitted that she had a "celebrity disease" in the past.
In context, "celebrity disease" means that celebrities take it for granted and act on special treatment worthy of their popularity, especially during their debut.
"In fact, after debuting as I.O.I, the celebrity disease came and went once. I thought I had to look perfect to work 365 days without a day off. So I took it for granted that people around me took care of me. It's different from asking for a favor, but I didn't know that. There was something like that in my unconsciousness," she recalled.
Fortunately, she was cured when she noticed rumors circulating her, and since she does Taekwondo, she came back to her senses and realized she became so distracted (with popularity).
Meanwhile, Jeon Somi released her first full-length album, "XOXO," on October 29 and is actively promoting on various programs.
