BTS's "Butter" is expected to be one of the nominees for "Record of the Year" at the 2022 Grammy after the band won the top prize at the 2021 American Music Awards (AMAs).
BTS's "Butter" Predicted to Be Nominated for 2022 Grammy's "Record of the Year"
On Nov. 22 local time, Forbes magazine released an article about its predictions regarding the possible 2022 Grammy nominations for the "Record of the Year."
Record of the Year is one of Grammy's four biggest awards together with Best New Artist, Song of the Year and Album of the Year.
According to Forbes, the Record of the Year Grammy is given to that one track that is "undeniable." They added that the song might have been the biggest hit of the year, the one that record the highest sales, or perhaps the exceptional one.
Forbes then said that there's a clear winner sometimes, but this year, that is not the case as many songs dominated the world in the past months.
The magazine went on to reveal the potential 2022 Grammy nominations for the Record of the Year, and one of them is BTS's "Butter."
"Butter," which achieved so many feats this year not only in South Korea but also in the United States. It recorded the highest first-week sales of any album released this 2021 on the Hanteo Chart, selling more than 1.9 million copies from July 9 to 15.
Notably, BTS's "Butter" sold a whopping 1,711,870 copies on the first day alone, becoming the only music release to sell over one million copies on the first day of its release in history. Moreover, "Butter" is the only work, so far, to sell more than 1.5 million copies in the first week.
What's more, "Butter" made a name for itself as the longest-running Top 10 hit on Billboard Hot 100 by a Korean act.
Apart from BTS's "Butter," Forbes predicted that the 2022 Grammy nominations for the "Record of the Year" might include Taylor Swift's "Willow," Justin Bieber's "Peaches" (feat. Daniel Caesar & Giveon), Doja Cat's "Kiss Me More" (feat. SZA), Olivia Rodrigo's "Drivers License," The Kid Laroi & Justin Bieber's "Stay" and Silk Sonic's "Leave the Door Open."
Do you think BTS's "Butter" would secure a spot in the nominations?
