IVE Ahn Yujin Revealed to Have Underwent Eye Surgery for Lens Implant
On December 15 KST, it was reported by media outlet Nate that rookie girl group member, IVE's Ahn Yujin, had recently underwent eye surgery to receive intraocular lens implant, a procedure that involves inserting artificial lenses into the the eye to treat cataracts or myopia.
The report came after an ophthalmology clinic located in the Gangnam district in Seoul had posted a picture, along with an article about Ahn Yujin's intraocular lens implant surgery through their official social media on December 14.
In a photo that was reportedly shared, it showed Ahn Yujin taking off her glasses and staring at the camera. Along with the photo is an autograph by the IVE member herself.
In the post, the ophthalmology clinic stated, "Ahn Yujin, who became a member of IVE from IZ*ONE, received an intraocular lens implant and said goodbye to her think glasses. We will continue to take responsibility for her eye health."

Prior to getting her lens implant, Ahn Yujin had always worn her prescription eyeglasses in private and when she is off-schedule.
In fact, whenever she wears her eyeglasses, it made her eyes look smaller due to the refraction of the lens, which can be seen back when she appeared on the Mnet survival program "Produce 48," back in August 2018.

In one scene on the show, Ahn Yujin can be seen wearing her eyeglasses, while covering half of her face due to feeling embarrassed. Her roommate at the time and former fellow IZ*ONE member, Kim Minju, had said encouraging words to the idol, stating that she looks pretty with her glasses on.
Due to the different from when she is wearing her eyeglasses from when she is not, Ahn Yujin became involved in rumors of her receiving plastic surgery in the past, with numerous netizens pointing out how her eyes in her past photos of her wearing glasses were too small.
But with the eye grade Ahn Yujin has, the refraction of her glasses can make her eyes look like so.
With the "ELEVEN" singer's recent implant surgery, it would hopefully dispel such rumors.

Netizens who heard of the news responded positively, saying, "I am glad that the surgery went well," "She must have been bothered," and "It seems like she made a good choice."
Meanwhile, Ahn Yujin recently made her debut as a member of IVE back on December 1 with their single album "ELEVEN."
