Past Video of Red Velvet Irene Freezing on Stage During MBC's 2016 Gayo Daejejun Gains Attention

Winter is finally here; and as we go deeper into December, the weather gets colder. Despite the freezing temperatures South Korea is subjected to, that doesn't stop our favorite Korean stars from delivering content for their fans.

More specifically, the winter season can be a K-Pop idol's worst enemy when it comes to performing outdoors, as idols would need to not only dance and sing in the cold, but also wear their stage outfits that sometimes, does little to nothing to stop them from freezing.

Recently, a past video of Red Velvet member, Irene, during the closing remarks at MBC's 2016 Gayo Daejejun has resurfaced and caught the attention of netizens on online community sites.

In the video circulating, Irene can be seen on stage with her fellow Red Velvet members and wearing a blue knit top, a black faux leather mini-skirt, and a pair of knee-high socks.

However, what netizens noticed was how four of the members were shivering in the cold. More noticeably, Irene can be seen being the most affected with the weather, as she was shivering badly and swaying from side-to-side with her eyes closed - as if she was about to faint any second from the freezing temperature.

Her fellow members, such as Wendy, even tried to help warm up Irene at least a bit, by rubbing her arms and keeping her body close to hers.

Netizens who saw the video couldn't help but feel sorry for what idols have to endure as part of their job. Many left comments like, "To be able to present nice stages to fans, idols have to go through a lot of hardships," "Irene looks like she is about to faint. I feel bad for her," "Not everyone understands the dark side of being a K-Pop idol," and "This is part of an idol's job, so you have no choice but to accept it. But I still feel so sorry for her."

Red Velvet's Latest Release

In other news, Red Velvet's more recent release was their sixth mini-album "Queendom," which was released back in August of this year.

The album contains a total of six songs, including their title track of the same name, "Pose," "Knock on Wood," "Better Be," "Pushin' N Pullin'," and "Hello, Sunset."

In February 2022, Red Velvet will release their first Japanese full-album, "Bloom."
