On the afternoon of January 8, the 36th Golden Disc Awards were held at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, South Korea.
This year's event had several top names in attendance, such as IU, Lim Youngwoong, Jeon Somi, Heize, Brave Girls, aespa, STAYC and more.

Jeon Somi was one of the most anticipated games for this year's Golden Disc Awards. This is the first award show Somi has ever attended as a solo artist since I.O.I's disbandment.
Jeon Somi received the "Best Performance" award at the award ceremony. Following her successful 2021, promoting popular songs "DUMB DUMB" and "XOXO," it is no surprise the idol took home the award.
On social media, viewers praised Jeon Somi's visuals during her performance at the ceremony. The idol earned praise for her gorgeous appearance and radiant hair and makeup, making her look like a "real-life Barbie doll." Her performance skills were also applauded, with the idol captivating internet users.

However, her performance also drew comparisons to BLACKPINK. People noted that her outfit for her "DUMB DUMB" performance bore an uncanny resemblance to Lisa's outfit during BLACKPINK's performance in Coachella back in 2019.
People also claimed that her hair and makeup made her look like Rosé. Some even claimed that they thought it was Rosé onscreen at first glance due to how similar they looked.
While Somi's supporters think it is just a coincidence because The Black Label (Somi's agency) is a subsidiary of YG Entertainment, many BLACKPINK supporters have the opposite opinion. As this is not the first time Jeon Somi has been compared to BLACKPINK, people believe The Black Label uses media-play and makes Jeon Somi look like Rosé to gather attention.

Many are upset over this, as they believe it is stripping Jeon Somi of her unique identity.

Jeon Somi Recent Activities
Jeon Somi's last musical release was her first full-length album, "XOXO" and its lead single of the same name, on October 29. Upon release, "XOXO" debuted on the Gaon Album Chart at number six. In addition, the lead single "XOXO" peaked at number 43 on the Gaon Digital Chart.
"XOXO" also debuted at number 185 on the Billboard Global 200. This is the female idol's first chart entry on the Global 200.
