Former 'Produce 101' Contestant Heo Chanmi Opens Up About Mnet's Evil Editing
Recently on February 7, Youtube channel Recent Olympics shared a new video featuring former "Produce 101" contestant Heo Chanmi.
In this video, which is titled "[Meeting Heo Chanmi] Update of a Produce 101 participant who almost became a part of Girls' Generation," Heo Chanmi talks about what her life was like after appearing on the first season of the Mnet survival program back in 2016.
Prior to competing on "Produce 101," Heo Chanmi debuted as a member of co-ed group Coed School back in 2010. She later gained attention after appearing on the show.

In the video, Heo Chanmi opened up about Mnet's infamous "evil editing," and recalled the time where she first met the other contestants and made a 90-degree bow. However, it wasn't included in the broadcast, and eventually made her look disrespectful.
"I had greeted everyone with a 90-degree bow back then. But that part was removed and what appeared on broadcast made me look like someone who doesn't greet anyone back," Heo Chanmi said.
She also talked about the mistake she made while performing Girls' Generation's song "Into the New World" during the third episode of the show, where her voice cracked during a high note.

Mnet had intentionally replayed the mistake five times on broadcast, which eventually sparked controversy regarding her skills.
But Heo Chanmi explains that she was unable to sing properly due to her vocal cord nodules at the time. She added that she even told her team members that she couldn't sing the part, after which they switched parts, but was told that Heo Chanmi had to sing the high note.

Heo Chanmi then confesses to being afraid of going up on stage after that incident, to the point she doesn't even want to sing anymore.
"After that stage incident, I was so afraid to stand on the stage [again] to the point that I had even thought about not singing anymore," Heo Chanmi said.

She added that she was also maliciously edited when she was watching her opponent's performance, which created another controversy regarding issues with her personality.
She then reveals having developed something similar to social phobia. "I have something like social phobia. I had received a lot of malicious comments. I didn't want to leave my room because I didn't want to meet any people. My mom became so worried that she check my room every 30 minutes. She was so worried that I would have negative thoughts in my head," Heo Chanmi shared.
