Even before her debut, ITZY member Ryujin made her name known in the K-pop community as a participant in YG Entertainment's 2017 survival program "MIXNINE." She was known as one of the most outstanding contestants on MIXNINE, earning love for her stunning performance and relaxed demeanor.

Internet users have resurfaced Ryujin's performance of BLACKPINK's "BOOMBAYAH," which she performed on episode five on MIXNINE as a member of the Benefit team.
Many were impressed by Ryujin's pre-debut performance. While recreating the choreography of BLACKPINK's song, Ryujin received compliments for her calm, relaxed demeanor, confident expression and neat movements.
At the time, Ryujin had not officially debuted but already exuded a star aura that overshadowed the other contestants.

However, some people pointed out that Ryujin's dance technique while performing "BOOMBAYAH" appeared quite stiff, lacking fluidity and sharpness. When compared to her more recent performance of "LOCO," "Mafia in the Morning," "NOT SHY," WANNABE," "ICY" and "DALLA DALLA," it is evident that Ryujin has improved in terms of flexibility.

As a member of ITZY, Ryujin is often praised as one of the most outstanding dancers of the fourth generation of K-pop. The idol is barely criticized for her dance skills now, with people admiring her technique.
