Recently on February 10, Red Velvet shared a new video on their official Youtube channel. The video, which is a vlog of member Seulgi, features the Red Velvet member celebrating her 28th birthday (29th in Korean age) and sharing the special day with fans.
As part of her birthday celebration, Seulgi cooked herself a homemade meal, including seaweed soup, beef bulgogi, rice, and japchae, and ate with her cousin.
In particular, as Seulgi was eating her meal, the idol's cousin had asked her if she was familiar with the "perilla leaf" debate.

The "perilla leaf" debate is a popular topic in Korea right now. As perilla leaves often get stuck together, the debate is about whether or not it is okay for someone who is not your significant other or partner to separate the leaves.
This debate would often reveal a person's attitude and behavior towards those that might stimulate jealousy in a romantic relationship.

Regarding the topic, Seulgi said, "I think I wouldn't care. Is there anything wrong with it? I think it is fine to help out someone with that."
However, while she is fine with her significant other helping out when it comes to separating perilla leaves, Seulgi points out that what matters is their gaze.
"It is fine as long as you don't send some strange signal," Seulgi said.

She then explains what she means by strange signal, and says that it is an eye signal that sends a message like "I care for you" to the other person and something similar to that.
"But to be considerate, I think you can do it [separate perilla leaves]," Seulgi added.
After hearing her answer, numerous netizens agreed with Seulgi, saying that it's important someone's actions are done out of consideration and not because of a different intention.

In other news, Seulgi recently debuted as a member of SM Entertainment's supergroup, GOT The Beat, alongside fellow Red Velvet member Wendy, BoA, Girls' Generation's Hyoyeon, and Taeyeon, and aespa's Karina and Winter.
