BoA, aespa Karina Under Fire for Saying THIS to Girls' Generation Hyoyeon
In a recent YouTube clip, viewers discussed BoA's remark on Hyoyeon's skin, followed by laughter from aespa Karina. Since then, the two have been accused of being colorists.

On February 11, a video of BoA allegedly making a colorist joke to Girls' Generation Hyoyeon circulated online and encouraged discussion among viewers. What's more is that aespa Karina's reaction to the supposed joke didn't sit well with the netters as well.
The snippet came from a vlog titled, "Girls on Top: Let's get to the TOP" posted on GOT the beat's (Girls on Top) official YouTube channel on February 9.
In the video, the seven members, comprised of BoA, Taeyeon & Hyoyeon (SNSD), Seulgi & Wendy (Red Velvet) as well as Karina & Winter (aespa), shared their expectations and experience with the group and conveyed their first impressions to each other.
Members proceeded by saying what they thought when they saw each other for the first time in a game. BoA then attracted attention for what she said to Hyoyeon.
The SNSD member first asked, "First impression of (me) in five words?"
BoA then replied, "Me, I have one. She is very tanned."
"Right, why was I so tan?" Hyoyeon then responded while laughing at it, and the room was filled with laughter from the female stars.
aespa Karina Disappoints With Her Reaction, BoA Accused of Being Colorist
While many didn't think there was something's wrong with the "Better" singer's remark to Hyoyeon, some think otherwise.
The uploader of the clip on Twitter wrote the caption, "Why do kpop idols always have to make colorist jokes… also why is Karina laughing so hard..."
As of February 12, the post amassed more than 11,000 quote retweets, and the majority were expressing their anger and negative comments over BoA and Karina.

In contrary to the above tweets, some defended the two idols, explaining that it is just a joke between two artists (BoA and Hyoyeon)who have been together for more than a decade since their trained under SM Entertainment.
But others counterattacked by saying being friends doesn't justify why she had to "make fun" of the latter idol's color.
Also, aespa Karina didn't escape the disappointment from fans. Many were "annoyed" by the "unnecessary" laughter she gave in the clip. People tried to educate her that there's nothing to laugh about being tan or having darker skin.
Supporters of Hyoyeon, particularly SONEs (SNSD fandom), are asking for an official apology from BoA and aespa Karina. SM Entertainment has yet to release its statement as well.
