Songs to Sing at SM Entertainment's Audition to be Automatically Accepted, According to aespa Karina & Giselle
On February 12, aespa members Karina and Giselle took over the SM Audition Instagram page to answer questions about auditions for the agency.
In one video, Karina and Giselle responded to the question, "Is there a song that will immediately get you accepted if you perform it?"

Karina named not one but two songs. She stated that she witnessed this very thing happen when she was a trainee.
The first song Karina recommended is Taeyeon's "U R," and the second song she recommended is "Gravity," also by Taeyeon. Karina explained why she selected these songs, saying they are incredibly hard to perform.

Karina adds, "If you sing these songs well, it's a free pass to join SM Entertainment."

"U R" was released in October 2015 as a b-sidetrack in Taeyeon's debut extended play "I." Taeyeon herself has expressed how difficult it is to sing this song.
During a concert, the idol shed tears after singing "U R," saying the song was like homework to her. She added, "Whenever I want to test myself, I sing this song. I sing this song when I feel confident too."
"Gravity" was released in October 2019 as a b-sidetrack in Taeyeon's second studio album, "Purpose." The song is described as a pop ballad track highlighting Taeyeon's powerful vocal performance.
Since its release, "Gravity" has been known as one of Taeyeon's notoriously tricky songs to sing.

Giselle agreed with Karina's choices but also offered her own — "Next Level" and "Savage" by aespa!
"Next Level" was released in May 2021, while "Savage" was released in October 2021.
