NMIXX's 'O.O' Draws Comparison to Past JYP Entertainment Debuts

After a long wait, NMIXX has made their much-anticipated debut with "O.O" on February 22, 2022. JYP Entertainment's rookie group received much attention due to its all-ace member lineup and expensive-looking teasers and music video.

Sadly, the public did not react positively to the song, with some even dubbing it "the worst debut song of a girl group from JYP Entertainment."

JYP Entertainment's past girl groups saw success with their debut song. For miss A, their debut song, "Bad Girl, Good Girl," earned a music show win just 22 days after its release and even won the "Song of the Year" award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMAs) in 2010.

Why People Prefer Past JYP Entertainment Debuts Over NMIXX's 'O.O'

The debut songs of miss A, TWICE and ITZY have catchy, easy-to-listen and public-friendly tunes. The opposite can be said for NMIXX. The public criticized the melody of "O.O" for being difficult to digest, with some saying it sounds like different songs patched together to make one song.

People also claimed that the lyrics of "O.O" were meaningless and confusing. The members were also criticized, with listeners saying they did not sing clearly, making it hard to understand what they were saying.

People expected NMIXX to continue the legacy of success that the seniors from JYP Entertainment have maintained. But, sadly, they were most disappointed and confused with the quality of music JYP Entertainment released. Some even claim that due to the quality of "O.O," the members' talents were overshadowed.

However, some argue that "O.O" was made to target the international market, which is why the melody does not suit the Korean public. Many hope that NMIXX will start performing "O.O" on music show stages soon, as they hope the members' performance will make the song more attractive.

Currently, the song "O.O" is dropping on domestic charts. The song has never entered the MelOn chart, which is understandable due to the negative reception the track received in its home country.

However, there are many cases where songs will rise on the charts when the idols start promoting. This might be the case for NMIXX.

Some comments concerning NMIXX and past JYP Entertainment debuts read, "This is JYP's worst song. The debut songs of miss A, TWICE and ITZY are all good, but this is not it," "JYP female idols have always been popular in Korea. I guess they are aiming for the international market this time," "Why is the music quality like this if they are from JYP?" "They don't look like a JYP girl group at all," and "Their concept clashes with ITZY."
