Flight Attendants Reveal How Sasaeng Fans Follow K-Pop Idols in Airports

Recently on March 4, a previous episode of Youtube channel AYO's "Comment Defenders" is being revisited by netizens on the online community forum, The Qoo.

In this video, two flight attendants who have accommodated numerous Korean stars such EXO, TVXQ, Rain, CNBLUE, Lee Dong Wook, Daniel Henney, Kim Ok Bin, and more, during their flights were featured.

In this episode of "Comment Defenders," flight attendants Kim Soodal and Kim Ha Gyeong answer some frequently asked questions regarding what it's like accommodating K-Pop idols and actors, actress during their flights.

One of the questions that was asked of the two flight attendants was that fans who go to the airport to see their idol can just purchase a flight ticket and take pictures of them, can just asked for a refund before boarding the plane.

Hearing this, the flight attendants expressed their clear dislike towards such actions, with Kim Soodal saying:

"It is like they go to the [boarding] gates with their idols and take pictures of them shopping at Duty Free, and then ask for a refund right before boarding. Right in front of the gate."

They went on to explain that sasaeng fans asking for a refund in front of the boarding gate loses them a seat in the plane, instead of the ticket going to someone else who could have actually used the seat.

"Plus, once you have checked in, you can't just leave by yourself. You will need to go to the legal department and customs to submit a document explaining why you are leaving. And if you shopped at the Duty Free, we will have to go to the ships together to refund the items," Kim Soodal said.

They added that such an action can also cause a flight to be delayed.

Flight Attendants Reveal Other Extreme Things Sasaeng Fans Do

The flight attendants also bring up another issue, which are the large cameras that sasaeng fans would bring onto the flight. They also revealed that some sasaeng fans would even ask them to voice record the idols.

"One time, some idol fan gave me a voice recorder and had asked me to record the conversation with the idol. And after the idol used the toilet on the plane, they'd go inside right after to smell their body odor or they'd follow him after the men's toilet in the airport," Kim Soodal said.

She also revealed that she had heard one sasaeng fan had paid an airport cleaner money and asked them to take a picture of the idol, or steal their luggage from the conveyer belt and open it to see what's inside.
