With the popularity of Baby V.O.X in the late 1990s, there is no doubt it is thanks to the first-gen girl group that K-pop is on the rise today around the world.

In 1997, the hereinafter five-member girl group Baby V.O.X. (Baby Voice of Xpression) was introduced under DR Music. Following their debut, they rose as one of the most prominent girl groups of the first generation K-pop, along with Fin K.L. and S.E.S. 

They are known for their hit tracks "Ya Ya Ya," "Killer," "Betrayal," and more, which consistently top the Korean music charts.

As their popularity increased, Baby V.O.X also broke into the Asian market particularly China, Japan, etc., even becoming the first K-pop idol to do a concert in Mongolia.

However, Eun Jin and Eun Hye left the group in 2004 and 2005, respectively, leading to the group's disbandment after nine years in the limelight.

Here Are Recent/Current Status of Baby V.O.X Members:

1. Kim EZ

Right after her college acceptance, Kim Yiji, also known as Kim EZ, was street cast by DR Music. Despite the strong opposition of her father, Kim debuted as the leader of Baby V.O.X.

Following disbandment, the female idol initially worked as an actress in 2004. She worked in various fields until April 2010, when she finally settled down with her office worker husband.

Since then, she left the entertainment world and worked as a full-time wife and mother of her two children.

2. Shim Eun Jin

A famous ulzzang (internet star for her visuals) during her school days, Eun Jin was cast on the street to be a Baby V.O.X member.

Amid popularity when she debuted, she left the group in 2004 after confessing that she didn't like the direction the company is heading.

Since then, Shim worked in various fields; she debuted as a solo artist and launched her clothing brand "Z'BAGO," as well as worked as an actress. In 2013, she opened her first art exhibition and in 2017, she debuted as a book author.

In January 2021, Shim Eun Jin married actor Jeon Seung Bin.

3. Lee Hee Jin

Prior to debut, Hee Jin was walking at the mall with her friends was also street-cast by DR Music and eventually debuted with Baby V.O.X.

In 2006, right after their disbandment, Hee Jin decided to focus on her career as an actress both in musical and small screen, which gained her "Best New Actress" award in 2011.

Her recent appearance on the small screen was through "Penthouse 3," where she played the role of a massage customer's daughter in Episode 14.

On March 9, she also appeared as a special DJ her co-Baby V.O.X member's radio program, SBS Love FM, "Kan Mi Youn's Love Night" after the latter tested positive for COVID-19.

4. Kan Mi Youn

After coincidentally seeing Baby V.O.X filming while she's strolling at the Lotte World, Kan Mi Youn was approached by the group's manager and was scouted. She later debuted as an additional member of the group.

Following their departure from DR Music, she debuted as a soloist and focused on the Chinese market from 2007 to 2009.

In 2014, she returned to Korea and signed with Mako Amusement, the same label as Shim Eun Jin.

Amid activities, she found her love and married musical actor Hwang Paul in 2019.

In 2022, she's currently working as a radio DJ of her program for SBS Love FM, "Kan Mi Youn's Love Night."

5. Yoon Eun Hye

Although she initially debuted through a normal casting, Yoon Eun Hye was also street-cast right after she debuted for her visual.

When she left the group in 2005, Eun Hye rose as a top actress notable for her hit dramas, "Princess Hours," "Coffee Prince," "My Fair Lady," "Lie to Me," and more.

Amid fame, she met a design plagiarism controversy, which is one of the reasons for her hiatus from 2015 until 2018.

However, she regained her status following her comeback in the latter year with her latest drama "Fluttering Warning" and movie "After Love."

In 2022, Eun Hye is not active in the acting field anymore, but she occasionally appears on various broadcasts including Channel A's travel program, "I like Go Doom Shim," which premiered on March 13.
