Former IZ*ONE Sakura, Chaewon Draw Attention in Pictures with Bang Si Hyuk - Here's the Reason

On March 14, Source Music, part of HYBE Labels, announced that former IZ*ONE members, Kim Chaewon and Miyawaki Sakura, signed exclusive contracts with the label.

Last year, reports of the two being recruited by HYBE Labels were published. The agency only gave a neutral stance and refused to give direct comments.

Now, it is official that Sakura and Chaewon are trainees under Source Music. They will debut together in a new girl group. The two are now part of the trainee group called SOMUNGG.

Former "Produce 48" contestant Heo Yun Jin is rumored to be part of the group as well.

On the same day as the announcement, HYBE's founder Bang Si Hyuk uploaded a few photos with the two former IZ*ONE members to his personal Instagram account. He wrote "Welcome!" in the caption, tagged both of the singers, and included hashtags like "#SOURCEMUSIC" and "#HYBE."

Shortly afterward, the pictures were shared on an online community. Many netizens flocked to the post and commented on the striking body proportions the two idols possess. People were impressed with how slim Kim Chaewon and Miyawaki Sakura are.

Before coming to Korea, Miyawaki Sakura was already famous in Japan as she a member of HKT48. This is a Japanese idol group produced by Yasushi Akimoto. She has since been releasing singles along with her bandmates.

She even appeared as a lead character in AKB48's drama "Majisuka Gajeun 4," which premiered in January 2015. She then released her first photo book called "Sakura" in July of the same year.

After IZ*ONE's disbanded, Sakura returned to Japan only to end her contract as an HKT48 member.

As for Kim Chaewon, she made her first TV appearance on KBS Korea Children's Song Contest back in 2012. She joined Woollim Entertainment five years later and trained for only 11 months before competing in "Produce 48."

She returned to Woollim as a trainee following IZ*ONE's disbandment, along with her labelmate and bandmate Kwon Eunbi. She then parted ways with the label in 2021.
