LOONA Talks About Blockberry Creative's Financial Difficulties

Recently on March 31, Mnet finally aired the first episode of the second season of their reality survival program, "Queendom," which features Girls' Generation's Taeyeon and Lee Yong Jin as the host, with groups VIVIZ, Brave Girls, LOONA, WJSN (Cosmic Girls), Kep1er, and former SISTAR member Hyolyn as the show's contestants.

The competing idols will be going head-to-head with each other to bring viewers several rounds of amazing performances.

In the first episode of "Queendom 2," each of the groups meet each other on the set, and held a group or solo interview to talk about their participation on the show.

In particular, in 12-member girl group LOONA's interview, they revealed that they have only heard about them joining the show 15 days before the first day of filming "Queendom 2" started.

To this, member Heejin said, "We had made our debut through a survival competition as well. The only difference was that there was no camera, but it was almost like a program."

LOONA also recalled the time reports of their agency Blockberry Creative being in financial difficulties had surfaced, and how it affected them as a group, which led them to temporarily postpone their activities.

"When I saw the comments under the articles when it came out, there were a lot of comments saying, 'It's a pity, they can totally grow more.' It was difficult to see the pitiful looks people gave us," Yves said.

Heejin added, "We were very scared. We didn't know whether or not we would be able to continue our career."

Chuu then shared she felt like people have set a limit on them, and that the opportunity to be on "Queendom 2" came at an important time.

"It felt like other people had set a limit for us. [Queendom 2] is an opportunity that came at a really important time. We have thought about grabbing [the opportunity] and proving ourselves," Chuu said.

Meanwhile, Blockberry Creative's financial crisis was first reported back in September 2021. This led to the uncertainty of LOONA's future, with many speculating of the group's possible disbandment.

More recently, it was revealed that member Chuu had filed a lawsuit against Blockberry Creative to suspend her contract with the agency in December 2021.
