'Semantic Error' Star DKZ Jaechan Named as #1 Male Idol with Visuals Straight Out of Manga

In a survey held from March 24 to 30 by Mubeat x Daily Sports, DKZ Jaechan was selected as the "Man-jjij-nam" by K-pop fans around the world.

In particular, the poll was conducted under the theme, "Idol Who Ripped a Manga?"

"Man-jjij-nim" (literal translation: Man who ripped comics) is a Korean slang used by teens, which refers to a man with an appearance like a character from a manga or cartoon.

Among fourth-gen stars, Jaechan won with 299,818 votes out of a total of 651,682 votes collected over the week.

In 2022, Jaechan rose into popularity both in K-pop and the acting field after the top-rated BL-based drama, "Semantic Error." In the show, he played the role of Chu Sang Woo, an engineering college student.

As the drama was adapted from a webtoon with the same name, Jaechan especially attracted huge attention for his uncanny resemblance to the original character, in terms of visuals and gestures.

Following the drama's success, Jaechan, who debuted as DONGKIZ (hereinafter DKZ) in 2019 continuously establishes his name as a rising idol, and is currently gaining anticipation for the group's comeback.

Trailing behind Jaechan is Kim Wooseok who won second place with 283, 670 votes. It was a close fight, but the UP10TION turned soloist wasn't able to overtake Jaechan.

In regards to his visual, Wooseok, who joined Mnet's "Produce x 101" and debuted as X1 in 2019, initially gained massive attention from fans for his blinding beauty. At that time, fans pointed out how Wooseok possesses both cuteness and sexiness, giving off a main character vibe in a romance manga!

Third place is OMEGA X Yang Hyuk, a former member of ENOi. Fans were initially amazed by his pure-looking image. But don't be deceived, behind his visual is actually an impressive body ratio that surprised a lot of fans!

Fourth place is Xdinary Heroes Gaon. When he was introduced as guitarist for JYP's new K-pop band, what captured fans' attention first was his manga-like face.

From his thick eyebrows, double eyelids, full lips, small face, jaw, nose, etc. – Gaon has all features you can ask for in a manga lead character!
