SM Entertainment is drawing criticism for not putting Sungchan in an NCT comeback in over a year. Keep on reading for all the details.

SM Entertainment Slammed for Neglecting NCT Sungchan

On April 11, a post on Nate Pann titled "Sungchan just leg one year fly away" garnered attention. In the post, the internet user lamented how Sungchan has not made a comeback, and all of his activities were as an MC for "Inkigayo." Other than that, the idol has not made a musical comeback in over a year.

They expressed how it was a shame his talents were being wasted, as he was a visual idol that could have garnered a massive fandom if he had been active.

Sungchan first debuted with NCT in 2020 as an NCT 2020 and NCT U member. The latter being a rotational unit. Sungchan was part of the "90's Love" comeback from the "NCT Resonance Pt. 1" album. He also sang on the song "Light Bulb" for the album.

On the "NCT Resonance Pt. 2" album, Sungchan participated in "Misfit" and "All About You." He was also part of "Resonance," a song sung by all the NCT members.

During an interview with Star News in January 2021, Sungchan revealed he would be debuting in a new NCT unit that year. However, 2021 passed and Sungchan never made his debut in a new NCT unit.

NCT 2021 released an album titled "Universe" in December 2021. Though he participated in songs on the album, Sungchan did not promote "Universe" as he was not part of either title track ("Universe (Let's Play Ball" and "Beautiful"). Instead, he participated in the songs "Know Now" and "Round&Round."

The only activities Sungchan has done since his debut was work as an MC for "Inkigayo" with IVE's Ahn Yujin and TREASURE's Jihoon. He held the position from February 2021 to March 2022.

People in the comments sympathized with Sungchan. They noted that his visuals are going to waste by not giving him a comeback.

People also noted that Sungchan's rapping, singing, and dancing are all good. Many wonder why SM Entertainment has yet to put Sungchan in a comeback.

Other NCT Members Treated Similarly to Sungchan

Others noted that it is not only Sungchan who SM Entertainment gave this treatment. Ten debuted with NCT U in 2016 but was not put into a unit until WayV's debut in 2019. Instead, Ten released solo songs through SM Studio and did a unit song with Taeyong titled "Baby Don't Stop."

Kun was also given similar treatment. Though introduced to fans in 2016 with an appearance on the Chinese version of "Without You," he made his formal debut in NCT in 2018 with "Black on Black." He had to wait another year to be put into an official unit with WayV.

While Shotaro has been given more opportunities to make a comeback, as he promoted "Universe (Let's Play Ball)" in December 2021, he is also not in a set NCT unit. This has led many to worry about the future of Sungchan's career.
