10 K-pop Groups That Disappeared/Disbanded Right After Debut [Updated 2023]
Making a debut in the K-pop industry is already an achievement for every K-pop group. However, although you already debuted it doesn't mean that everything will go smoothly onward, sometimes idol groups end up facing unfortunate situations, including disbandment or sudden disappearance.
Here are 10 K-pop groups that didn't make a comeback right after they debuted.
10 K-pop Groups That Disbanded/Disappeared Without Releasing Comeback Songs/Albums
X1
X1 is known for disbanding just five months after debut due to the "Produce" vote manipulation scandal. They dropped their first album "Emergency: Quantum Leap" in August 2019 and disbanded in January 2020.
Solia
Solia is infamous as the fastest K-pop group in history to disband. They debuted in August 2021 with their first and final digital single "Dream" and disbanded just five days later.
Space Music Entertainment said that the company can no longer keep Solia going due to circumstances.
The Ark
The Ark is another K-pop girl group that wrapped up their activities too soon. They debuted in April 2015 with the single "Somebody 4 Life" and disbanded in early 2016 due to problems within their agency and their debut not seeing success.
BTL
BTL or Beyond The Limit was a seven-member K-pop boy group that debuted in May 2014 with their self-titled digital single.
The group was supposed to make a comeback in July 2015 with their mini-album "Gold Moon" but no official music video and album was released. It is assumed that they disbanded that year.
Ye-A
Ye-A is another K-pop group that just disappeared right after their debut. They dropped their first and only digital single "National Treasure" in July 2014. The band never released any more music afterward and is assumed to have disbanded sometime in 2015.
Demion
After debuting in September 2013 with their first and only digital single "Ask Her Out," K-pop boy group Demion disbanded in October 2014 due to financial difficulties of their label, Lions Bridge.
PURPLAY
PURPLAY is another K-pop girl group that didn't have any official disbandment. The four-piece act debuted in February 2013 with the single "Watch Our Purplay" and presumably disbanded sometime in 2014.
Bob Girls
Bob Girls is a short-lived girl group under Chrome Entertainment, which is known for managing Crayon Pop. The quartet debuted in June 2014 with the single "The 1st Single Album."
They then disbanded in February 2015 as member Jina was diagnosed with encephalitis, which caused the label to terminate the contracts of all members.
84LY
84LY was a six-piece girl group that debuted under Universal Music Korea in September 2012 with their first and only mini-album "Girls Secret Party." The band unfortunately disbanded sometime in 2013.
BLK
BLK or Beyond Limit Key was a seven-member boy group formed by BYKING Entertainment. They debuted in November 2017 with their first and last mini-album "BLK Part 1. I." Their disbandment took place in September 2018.
