Back in February of this year, the GOT7 member became entangled in dating rumors with Yuqi after Chinese media outlets shared a video of the female idol leaving a hotel in China, and later arriving at Jackson's home after being driven a driver employed by him.

It was then reported that on the next day, Jackson's driver fetched Yuqi's assistant from the hotel to pick up the (G)I-DLE member from Jackson's apartment. As Yuqi was leaving Jackson's apartment, she was spotted holding a couple of roses. Not long after, netizens picked up on the story, and it soon became viral on the Chinese social media platform Weibo.

According to reports, Yuqi had returned to the hotel after her visit to Jackson's place, while Jackson left for the airport on the same day. A day after Jackson flew out of China, Yuqi left to return to South Korea.

After the video became viral across social media, many believed that the two Chinese K-pop idols were in a romantic relationship. However, others pointed out that there seemed to be discrepancies in the story.

Some netizens pointed out that the car used to pick up Yuqi and subsequently drop her off at Jackson's apartment was different from the car that dropped Jackson off at the airport.

In addition, many noticed that the clothes Yuqi was seen wearing as she returned to her hotel were not the same as what she wore when she was at the airport.

Despite that, the majority still wondered if the two were really dating. Following their dating rumors becoming viral, Jackson's side spoke up to deny the claims.

Jackson's company RYCE Entertainment stated that the video shared on social media was "pieced together and intentionally twisted the truth" to mislead the public and create a misunderstanding between Jackson and Yuqi's relationship.

RYCE Entertainment added that it is common and normal for friends to hang out at Jackson's home, and that the media outlet invaded Jackson's privacy, thereby causing damage to his reputation.

In response to this, RYCE Entertainment filed a police report against the media outlet to protect Jackson and his privacy.
