NewJeans Makes History as K-pop Girl Group With Highest Pre-Orders for Debut Album
"Cookie" is a dance pop song containing adorable lyrics. The new girl group previously talked about how a cookie can be used to get the person they like into making the first move.
On the same day, NewJeans' debut EP achieved several feats on Spotify. The album impressively recorded a total of 2.06 million streams, 226,000 cumulative monthly listeners, and 88,000 cumulative followers. In all these three categories, NewJeans achieved the highest record among all K-pop girl groups that debuted this year.

In addition to this, their songs "Attention" and "Hype Boy" maintained their position at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, on the Korean Spotify Daily Top Song chart for two consecutive days "Cookie" ranked No. 3 while "Hurt" placed fifth on Aug. 2.
With that, the "NewJeans" debut EP has become the first album by a female artist to have all songs enter the top 10 of the Korean Spotify Daily Top Song chart in 2022.
Furthermore, "Attention" is now the K-pop group debut song with the highest first-day streams on Spotify with 669,468 plays. "Hype Boy" comes second with 623,086 streams, while "Cookie" has the fifth-highest debut streams (418,354 plays).

NewJeans currently has 382,753 monthly listeners. They reached the figure in two days, tying with LE SSERAFIM as the fastest fourth-generation girl group to surpass 300,000 Spotify listeners (2 days).
Their most-streamed song is "Attention," which has 1.55 million streams. It is followed by "Hype Boy" with 1.42 million streams, "Cookie" with over 954,000 streams, and "Hurt" with over 786,000 streams.
NewJeans' Milestones on MelOn Charts With Debut Songs
NewJeans is also making their mark on the domestic music charts. The three title tracks "Attention," "Hype Boy," and "Cookie" entered the Melon Daily Chart just six hours after the album's release- which is the shortest time among the debut songs of a K-pop girl group in the past three years.

In particular, "Attention" debuted at No. 24. "Hype Boy" landed at No 51, while "Cookie" secured No. 95. These three songs now hold the top 3 highest debuts by rookie idol groups on MelOn Daily Chart this decade.

"Attention" then rose to No. 16 on the 2nd, while "Hype Boy" climbed up to No. 38. These two tracks also stayed strong in first and second places, respectively, on Bugs Daily Chart for two days in a row and claimed No 4 and No. 38 on Genie Daily Chart on the 2nd.

What's more, "Attention" entered at No 20 on MelOn's real-time chart at 7 p.m. KST on Aug. 1. This is the highest ranking among K-pop girl group debut songs released over the past three years.
