On Aug. 9, Hanteo Chart announced through a press release that NewJeans' first EP (also called "New Jeans") sold a total of 262,815 copies on Aug. 8 alone. With such overwhelming album sales, NewJeans topped the Hanteo Daily Album Chart on the 8th.

Apart from topping the daily album chart, "NewJeans" also obtained several historic milestones.
In particular, NewJeans' first EP has recorded the highest sales volume on the first day among debut albums by K-pop groups released since September 2019.

HYBE's new girl group also set a new record for the highest first-day sales of a K-pop girl group debut album on Hanteo. The previous record belonged to LE SSERAFIM's "FEARLESS," which sold 176,861 copies on May 2 this year.

On top of that, NewJeans' first EP is now the first debut album by a K-pop girl group- and the only one, so far- to sell more than 200,000 copies on the first day of sales.
What's more notable is that their first-day sales figure is just 14,000 copies less than the first-week sales of aespa's "Savage."

Six more days are left before NewJeans officially wrap up their first-week sales, so it remains to be unseen how further the sales will increase and if "New Jeans" will eventually break the highest first-week sales for a K-pop girl group debut album (which is held by LE SSERAFIM's "FEARLESS" with 307,450 copies).

NewJeans' Other New Achievements
Since their release on Aug. 1, NewJeans' two songs "Attention" and "Hype Boy" maintained their positions at No. 1 and No. 2 on Spotify's Korea Daily Top Songs chart for seven days in a row.
In addition, "Attention" now has the sixth-biggest first-day streams on Spotify among K-pop girl group songs released this 2022. The track accumulated 5.45 million streams.

As for "Hype Boy," its number of Spotify streams on the first day hit 4.78 million, achieving the eighth-highest 2022 K-pop girl group song debut. Meanwhile, "Cookie" garnered 3.07 million streams, while "Hurt" gained 2.38 million streams.

"Attention" also attained a new milestone on MelOn. On Aug. 5, the track reached No. 9 on the MelOn Daily Chart, becoming the fastest K-pop girl group debut song to enter the top 10 in the past three years. It went on to enter the top 5 by securing No. 4 on the 7th.

Reportedly, NewJeans' stage videos uploaded to the Naver TV channels of Mnet's "M Countdown," KBS 2TV's "Music Bank," and SBS's "Inkigayo" boast the most views among the artists who performed on the same day as them.
In particular, the "Hype Boy" stage video on "M Countdown" has reached about 110,000 views as of 10 a.m. today (Aug. 9), and the number of views of their "Attention" stage performance on the same music show is close to 80,000.
