NewJeans Scores 1st Music Show Trophy With 'Attention'
Proving their "monster rookie" status, NewJeans scored their first-ever music show win on the August 19 episode of MNET's "M Countdown" with their song "Attention"!
With the new achievement, they defeated the legendary girl group Girls' Generation and their song "Forever 1" in the episode, earning praises from K-pop fans and viewers.
NewJeans' "Attention" was nominated at SBS' "Inkigayo" last week but lost to the other contenders. Now, they finally secured the trophy. Fans were a bit saddened by the absence of the rookie group despite their win, but they made sure to make their presence felt with a pre-recorded message.
The rookie girl group won their first trophy just 18 days after their official debut, one of the fastest girl groups to achieve this feat.
NewJeans Sets New Records Despite Being a Rookie Group
NewJeans, rookie girl group by ADOR (an independent label under HYBE), has been breaking records left and right since their debut on August 1, 2022.
On August 9, NewJeans broke the record for the highest first-day sales among K-pop girl groups' debut albums in history. Their debut album "New Jeans" recorded a total sales of 262,815 on August 8 alone. This is also the first time that a debut album from a girl group has reached this high.

Their songs "Hype Boy," "Cookie" and "Hurt" are also topping the charts such as MelOn and Spotify.
NewJeans also achieved a double crown in the Circle chart, formerly known as the Gaon. Their EP "New Jeans" debuted at No. 1 on the weekly album chart, while at no. 5 is the Weverse version of the EP.
Meanwhile, their hit song "Attention" has shot up to No. 1 on the Global K-pop chart. That chart is a newly-created ranking based on global streaming. Further, another title track from NewJeans, "Hype Boy", climbed to No. 3.
NewJeans Releases Special Video For 'Hurt'
On the other hand, the monster rookie girl group has released a special video for one of their songs, "Hurt," on their official channel.
In the video, the girls are just chilling, sitting down in what looks like a container van designed prettily with blue lights. The girls are singing using what looks like a karaoke machine.
"Hurt" is a slow song so the dreamy vibe of the video fits perfectly.
NewJeans also released dance practice videos for "Attention," "Cookie," and "Hype Boy." The girls have shown the complexity and sharpness of each of the choreographies for their songs.
NewJeans will continue their promotions for their title tracks on different music shows and other programs.
