John Legend Wants to Do Collab With BTS or BLACKPINK

On Sept. 9, Kakao Entertainment's music platform MelOn released the contents related to John Legend's eighth studio album "LEGEND" through "MelOn Spotlight" and the original audio content service "MelOn Station."

On that day, John Legend became the first global pop artist to be featured in "MelOn Spotlight." There, he discussed various topics such as the introduction of his new song, his current situation, and his future plans.

Regarding the title of his new album, "LEGEND," the singer shared, "It is an album that symbolizes me and my career. I think I've been trying to become a person that fits my name up until now. So, for this album, I named it 'LEGEND' with the intention of living up to my name in the future."

As John Legend has many Korean fans, interest is focused on whether he will collaborate with Korean singers. About this, the singer revealed, "I am constantly thinking about collaborations, and I think it would be good to do it with BTS or BLACKPINK."

He added, "In the case of BLACKPINK, I actually have ideas that they will surely like."

In the past years, John Legend and BTS have had multiple interactions, so it's not a surprise that the American singer-songwriter has been considering doing collaboration with the K-pop boy group.

One of those interactions is when the two artists ran into each other at the Universal Studios Lot back in May 2019. Both of them uploaded the same picture to their Twitter accounts. Prior to this, BTS met up with John Legend at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.

Meanwhile, John Legend's wife, Chrissy Teigen, made a shoutout to BLACKPINK in January 2021 through an Instagram story. In the post, she proposed a collaboration between John and the four-member K-pop girl group.

Featuring her kids jamming out to BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez's "Ice Cream," Chrissy Teigen's Instagram story tagged BLACKPINK and her husband's Instagram with a short message, "collab?"

 

It can be assumed that Chrissy might have something to do with John Legend's decision to collaborate with the "Pink Venom" singers.

BLACKPINK Rules Billboard's Global Excl US Chart for 3rd Week in a Row

In other news, BLACKPINK continues to rank high on both Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S charts.

For the week ending on Sept. 17, the group's pre-release single "Pink Venom" once again reigned over Billboard's Global Excl. U.S chart for the third consecutive week while impressively ranking at No. 2 on the Global 200 in its third week as well.

Now that it has spent three weeks on the Global Excl. U.S chart, BLACKPINK's "Pink Venom" has extended its record as the longest-running No. 1 song by a K-pop artist on the tally this 2022. During the Sept. 2 to 8 tracking week, the track garnered 69.2 million streams and 3,000 sales in territories outside of the United States.
