Ministry of Foreign Affairs Staff Found Selling BTS Jungkook's Lost Hat Online

Recently, a post on an online store that sells secondhand items is drawing attention among netizens. Here, the seller shares that they are selling a hat supposedly worn by BTS' youngest member, Jungkook, and that the asking price is a whopping ₩10 million KRW (around $7,000 USD).

The seller then reveals that they work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and even proved their employment with a photo of their ID card.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs staff then explained that Jungkook had left his hat at the waiting area of their headquarters back when BTS visited to receive their diplomatic diplomas in September of last year.

The staff added that they were the ones who initially found Jungkook's hat, and now has ownership of it as Jungkook reportedly did not call or visit to get back his hat for more than six months after it was first reported missing.

Detailing more about the hat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs staff said in their post, "Jungkook has put this hat on several times in the past, which makes it a rare item that you won't be able to get anywhere else."

Regarding its hefty price of ₩10 million KRW, the staff remained firm on not negotiating the price, as they believe the hat's value would go significantly higher in the future.

"I will not make any deals on the price, because I believe [the hat] is going to be worth much more in the future. Considerably more than how much it is today," the staff said in their post.

While Jungkook was indeed spotted wearing the same hat on multiple occasions in the past, it is not confirmed whether the hat being sold is actually Jungkook's as the staff claims it to be.

However, Jungkook did visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs back in September 2021 with BTS for when they were getting their diplomatic passports. This was when the seven-member group was appointed as the Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture by then-president Moon Jae In for their trip to deliver a speech at the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) held in New York.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Staff Draw Flak for Selling Jungkook's Hat

Unsurprisingly, the staff ended up drawing flak for selling Jungkook's lost item, with netizens finding their behavior unethical.

However, despite the nature of the item being sold, the staff had changed their post from "available" to "sold" in the night of October 17. This means that someone had purchased the hat for ₩10 million KRW. Not long after, the post was taken down.

Some comments from netizens who criticized the staff read:

"Seriously disgusting."

"Crazy. Didn't you learn the basics when you were about to enter civil service?"

"10 million won? If you knew the owner of that hat, shouldn't you have returned it to their agency?"

What do you think of the staff's actions?
