Taiwanese Singer Plagiarized BLACKPINK Lisa's 'Money' Style? Here's His Response

This popular Taiwanese singer from Greater China received mixed reactions after striking similarities of his comeback teaser with BLACKPINK Lisa's styling in her hit debut track, "MONEY."

Show Lo Drops Comeback Teaser For Upcoming Comeback '買冬瓜'

On October 25, the famous mandopop star Show Lo dropped the teaser photo cover of his awaited new album, "買冬瓜" set to be released on October 27.

On the same day, a music video teaser was unveiled, capturing his fans' attention for the concept he is set to show after making a comeback in about eight months since he dropped his single, "修羅" in February.

Above everything, what captured the attention of music fans was his cross-dressing. Contrary to his cool and "bad boy" usual look, he appeared wearing a woman's outfit in a vibrant atmosphere. He also flaunted a long blonde hairstyle in a double ponytail, which attracted more interest.

While some are delighted about his return to the music scene, some internet users particularly local K-pop fans pointed out that the whole poster reminded them of BLACKPINK Lisa.

Looking closely, the photo is similar to Lisa's style for her hit track, "MONEY" MV unveiled in 2021.

Both of them wore high double ponytails, red hot pants, not to mention a black jacket and high fur boots. These are not the only details that fans noticed but as well as the similar ash blonder hairstyle and the writings behind him that were written in Thai.

As a result, Show Lo was accused of plagiarizing BLACKPINK Lisa and called him out for this through the comment section.

Later on, the Taiwanese singer refuted this claim and explained:

"I was only paying homage. This is obvious."

In the past, the singer has been a hot topic for disguising herself as a woman once. He created an alter ego in 2016 called Ju Byeok Seok (Beauty Lo), playing the role of a daughter-in-law.

This 2022, Ju Byeok Seok (Beauty Lo) returned to the music scene with a new album.

Netizens who saw the concept have divided reactions such as:

  • "I thought you're the older sister of Lisa."
  • "Ahh, this is hilarious."
  • "It's kind of creepy."
  • "I think it counts as plagiarism?"
  • "I don't think he copied Lisa."
  • "I'm excited with this album, your cosplay is on point."
  • "Why would people think it's plagiarized? This is obviously a parody."

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK, to which Lisa belongs, will continue their "BORN PINK" world tour in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania, starting with the Seoul concert which was held from October 15th to 16th.

Aside from her group activities, Lisa is also actively promoting as a CF model and global ambassador for the luxury brand Bvlgari since 2020.

On November 9, 2021, the Thai singer made her solo debut with a single album, "LALISA" comprised of her viral song, "MONEY."
