BIGBANG, KARA Jiyoung Join 3rd-Gen Artists Who Received RIAJ Certifications

The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has dropped the bomb as it released a new roster of artists who have bagged gold certifications for streaming.

With a passion for certifying music releases in Japan, RIAJ recalibrated its standard in empowering music by adding online streaming as part of the criteria, along with physical album shipments and digital download sales.

According to the threshold of the music corporation, the artists are eligible for silver after reaching 30 million streaming points. To bag for gold, they must get 50 million streams.

Meanwhile, once the artist achieves 100 million streams, they are named for the platinum award. Ultimately, they may score the diamond recognition if they hit 500 million.

Conversely, the third-generation artists live for legacy as well in RIAJ. Although TWICE, as a group, has cemented their Japanese presence as they received gold certification for their Japanese album "Celebrate" last August, the nonet girl group's center and vocalist, NAYEON, received the recognition as well as a soloist with her debut track "POP."

The bulletproof boys from HYBE LABELS, BTS, also earned the gold certificate with the track "My Universe," a collaboration with British band Coldplay.

BTS embarked on history in August 2021 when their second English song, "Butter," became the fastest song in RIAJ to sit on the throne of platinum tracks. Consequently, joining other BTS hit songs such as "Boy With Luv," "Stay Gold," and "Dynamite."

Meanwhile, in August 2022, BTS labelmates ENHYPEN and SEVENTEEN also earned the said recognition with their albums "MANIFESTO : DAY 1" and "SECTOR 17."

Transcending the fourth-generation artists, LE SSERAFIM proves their competency as they join BTS, ENHYPEN, and SEVENTEEN in this recognition as their debut song "FEARLESS" notched the gold streaming certification as well!
