2022 Asia Artist Awards Announces 1 Multinational Boy Group & 1 Virtual Artist Will Attend Ceremony

Two more artists are attending the 2022 Asia Artist Awards (AAA), which will be held in Japan later this year. Keep reading to know who they are.

2022 Asia Artist Awards Announces 1 Multinational Boy Group & 1 Virtual Artist Will Attend Ceremony

On Oct. 27, the 2022 Asia Artist Awards announced through news outlets that the nine-member multinational boy group &TEAM and the three-member virtual group SAGONG_EE_HO will attend the upcoming award ceremony that is scheduled in December.

&TEAM is the first idol group formed by HYBE Labels Japan. The act was formed through the audition show "&AUDITION -The Howling-," which aired from July to September this year. Of the 15 contestants, nine of them were chosen to debut, namely K, Nicholas, EJ, Taki, Fuma, Jo, Maki, Yuma, and Harua.

&TEAM is actually a multinational boy group, as the members have different nationalities. Nicholas is Taiwanese, while EJ is Korean and Maki is Japanese-German. The remaining members are all Japanese.

In a press release, HYBE introduced &TEAM as HYBE Labels Japan's "first global boy group." Member K shared, "I would say our ultimate goal is to reach a global audience and be charted on Billboard like BTS.

The name "&TEAM" was personally given by Bang Si Hyuk (HYBE's chairman) and is said to signify "a team that connects with fans around the world through music and stage."

The nine-member multinational global boy group is set to debut on Dec. 7. This means that the 2022 Asia Artist Awards will be the first award ceremony they will attend after their debut.

Meanwhile, SAGONG_EE_HO is the very first virtual artist to participate in AAA history. Comprising Oreer.C, Xoony, and Itaewon Park, the group debuted in June. It is a virtual group created to represent MZ generation in the metaverse era.

Following their debut song "WAKE UP," SAGONG_EE_HO made their first comeback on Oct. 11 with the release of their new song "CIRCUS DA." Reportedly, they will present a virtual opening at the 2022 AAA that has not been seen in the previous award ceremonies.

The 2022 Asia Artist Awards will be held offline for the first time in three years at the Nihongaishi hall in Nagoya, Japan on Dec. 13, and Leeteuk and Jang Wonyoung will collaborate as MCs as they did last year.

On Dec. 14, the gala show "2022 AAA AFTER STAGE" will take place for the first time in history at the same venue. Singer and actor Hwang Minhyun and member Yabuki Nako, a former member of IZ*ONE will co-host the event.

After revealing the first lineup of artists on Oct. 7, the 2022 AAA announced the second lineup on Oct. 14. The list includes PENTAGON, TEMPEST, KARD, Choi Yena, NMIXX, and NiziU.

Then, on Oct. 21, the third lineup was released, and the list includes WJSN CHOCOME, CRAVITY, LIGHTSUM, VERIVERY, TRENDZ, AleXa, KINGDOM, TFN, Lapillus, Billlie, and ATBO.
