Son Seoah Reveals To Join wavve's 'Button Game' Due To 50M Won Debt, Hospital Bills

On October 28, Son Seoah, a former girl group member shocked viewers and K-pop fans following the news that she will appear in the wavve's survival reality show, "Button Game," which depicts humans' extreme survival instincts.

On this day, a teaser poster of the nine participants wearing white T-shirt were revealed, showing various expressions that seemed to foreshadow their respective performances and recent lives.

Among them, a familiar face caught the attention of K-pop fans, which is Son Seoah, a former MIXX.

Seoah debuted in 2017 as a third-generation K-pop idol. In 2019, she then debuted as a solo artist. Since then, the singer's actions and moves in the K-pop scene have been little known, until her participation in the aforementioned show.

It is said that the idol desperately needs money because she's in debt of 50 million won (about 35,221 USD) and knocked on the door of the "Button Game" by confessing that she also needs to pay her mother's hospital expenses and bills.

Wavve's original entertainment show "Button Game," which will premiere on November 11, is described as a "brutal" survival reality in which nine participants in desperate need of money live in an enclosed space for 14 days and have to survive with only one button every day in harmony and betrayal.

The mechanics of the game will start by protecting the "seed money" of 100 million won given to each on the first day. Those who start the "Button Game" with seed money of the same 100 million won must stay in the camp for two weeks and press one of the three buttons once a day to protect their seed money.

Son Seoah Profile 2022: 'Idol Master,' MIXX, Solo Debut

For those who don't know Son Seoah, her face became first known after her appearance in Sung Eun Yoo's "Jiltu" and Song Yu Vin's "Ppyeotsokkkaji Neoya" MVs in 2016 even prior to her debut. Supposedly, she is set to debut in a project girl group under her birth name Son Hyunmi after joining "Idol Master" in the same year, but she dropped out without a certain reason just before their launch.

Just months after it was known that Seoah debuted as Mia of a girl group called MIXX. Although they were gaining attention, the group's career was short-lived as they disbanded in March 2017, just two months away from their first anniversary. Apparently, her Chinese co-members have to return to China due to the THAAD political conflict.

In 2018, Seoah moved from Chiko Bros Entertainment to BRICKWORKS company and prepared for her re-debut as Sarah in the girl group Ho1day, hereinafter API. But she was cut from the lineup.

In 2019, she decided to start anew under her new company Elephant Culture and legal name Seo Seoah and debuted as a soloist with her single, "Mommy Santa Claus."

She also dropped the song, "Happy Shiny New Year" in the same year and in 2022 she released "A Night of Coincidence."

Before joining the show, she's actively communicating with fans through her YouTube channel, Seoah, uploading her song and dance covers as well as makeup tutorials.
