BTS Jin recently updated ARMYs on his upcoming military enlistment when one fan asked gave him a question about his birthday next month. However, the idol is receiving hate comments for what he said.

BTS Jin Hints at His Military Enlistment Location Being in Frontline Base

On Nov. 13, around midnight KST, the BTS member replied to a fan's question on Weverse asking if he was excited about his birthday, which is on Dec. 4. The idol stated that he wasn't excited about it, as he will enlist in the military in the frontline base.

The conversation between them is as follows:

ARMY: Oppa, it's your birthday next month. Are you excited?

BTS Jin: No... I'm on the front line.

Based on his reply, it could mean that the "The Astronaut" singer would be deployed close to the border in the northern part of South Korea around the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), which divides North and South Korea; Gyeonggi Province (orange); or Gangwon Province (yellow).

Since the winter season is approaching, enlisters in the frontline divisions, especially in the Gangwon Province, will likely deal with extreme cold and even hot water shortages. What's more, some training centers in Gangwon face consistent, consecutive snowstorms during the winter months. Soldiers are often instructed to wake up early and complete snow removal duties.

After suggesting where his military enlistment location is, BTS Jin trended on Twitter as his Weverse comment has spread among fans.

The phrase "take me instead" also trended as the fans offered to take the idol's place. ARMYs are worried that the singer would enlist in the winter and could face cold weather conditions.

While ARMYs are expressing their worry over Jin's upcoming military training, Korean netizens are throwing criticism toward the BTS member for what he said on Weverse. Some are asking why he is complaining when he isn't the only idol who would enlist in the frontline divisions.

"There are lots of idols who enlist in the frontline. What's wrong with him? Why is he whining? Shut up and go!"

"Eh, there are many idols that enlisted to the frontline on their own hahaha. None of them ever put out a comment like that."

"Seokjin-ah (Jin's real name), you're not the only person to ever enlist in the frontlines. Go quietly. What's wrong with you?"

One netizen also pointed out that the fan was asking about his birthday, and yet BTS Jin's reply included his military enlistment, which makes it "awkward."

"His fans must be embarrassed.. Nobody asked him about the military either. The fan was asking about his birthday hahaha. I feel like between him and V, their hobby is to make fans feel awkward on Weverse."

In relation to this, other K-netizens are questioning the idol why he is making a "fuss" about his enlistment. But there are also those who defended the artist.

"Why is he making such a fuss about enlisting in the military? Does he think he's some aristocrat royal?"

"So just because he's getting sent to the frontlines, he's causing all this fuss. Does this makes sense, really?

"Is he whining because he'll be in the frontlines in the cold? Hahaha. It all depends on who's in charge of picking his unit."
