BoA Reveals Bang Si Hyuk Did Something for Her During SM Entertainment's 'Dark Days'

On Nov. 24, 1theK Originals' YouTube channel uploaded a new video, featuring veteran singer BoA. The clip showed the female soloist and GOT the beat member browsing her profile and other information on various platforms, such as Namu Wiki, YouTube, Melon, TheQoo, among others.

While browsing, she came across a paragraph that says, "As it can be seen her from her nickname 'Star of Asia,' which is famous for being her representative modifier, she's one of the best K-pop celebrities who represents Korea, as well as the girl who became the head of the family during SM Entertainment's dark ages."

BoA recollected her time when she acted as the only "breadwinner" of the company, and shared, "It was the dark age. As I didn't have a manager, I took a bus on the way to the recording (studio)."

She then mentioned HYBE Chairman Bang Si Hyuk, who did something for her during those dark days. "Bang Si Hyuk gave me money to take a taxi on my way home," she revealed.

The 22-year K-pop icon continued to read the paragraph, saying, "Considering the level of treatment she receives and her status in SM today, it's an exaggeration to say that she put up several buildings in SM, literally."

In response to this, BoA said that several buildings have indeed been established at SM Entertainment thanks to her.

When the 1theK Originals staff asked, "Was the building actually not there originally, but it was constructed later on?," the "Step Back" singer answered that a lot of buildings were newly built.

Since her debut back in 2000, BoA has been dubbed the "Queen of K-pop." Her ability to sing in English, Japanese, and Mandarin, aside from Korean, has helped her find commercial success in the neighboring countries such as Japan, China, Taiwan, and Singapore. Multiple of her Japanese albums, including her debut album "Listen to My Heart," sold more than one million copies. In fact, she is the only foreign artist with three albums that have recorded one million sales in Japan.

Aside from helping SM Entertainment establish their position in the music industry, BoA is also one of the pioneers of the Hallyu movement, helping the Korean cultural wave spread to regions across the globe. Currently, BoA is an executive producer of SM Entertainment.

Because of the massive success of her career, it's no wonder SM's headquarter is expanding with new buildings being constructed.

BoA Clarifies Her Audition for SM Entertainment

Another information that BoA came across while reading on Namu Wiki is about her audition for SM Entertainment. It is stated on her profile that she accompanied her second oldest brother to an SM Entertainment audition, and that's when she was discovered by the agency.

The singer denied this, saying, "This is really not true. The CEO has mentioned this from somewhere. It's an edited information which was being manipulated in my memories. I am proud of being casted by SM."
