TXT Huening Kai Sparks Discussion For His Supposed Weight Gain: 'He should manage his body'

In an online community, TXT Huening Kai drew mixed reactions from K-pop fans following his appearance at the 2022 Melon Music Awards. Did he really gain weight? Why is it big deal?

TXT Huening Kai Earns Divided Opinions For 'Weight Gain'

On November 26, TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) - comprised of Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Huening Kai - attended the annual MelOn Music Awards held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro-gu, Seoul.

On the red carpet, the group is among the K-pop artists that became a hot topic for their visuals and presence wearing black-themed outfits.

Among them, maknae Huening Kai particularly gained interest for his incredible look in all-black OOTN, starting from his overcoat, inner cloth, pants and shoes. Even his hair is dyed back to black and coiffed.

The idol garnered praises for looking like a prince, flaunting his blueblood-like, elegant look.

"He's so handsome."

"Huening Kai is a real-life prince."

"Effortless gorgeous."

But it seemed like not everyone appreciated the idol's beauty.

In an online community, a netizen voiced out their concern, saying:

"No, but... he should manage his body a bit.
Isn't he an idol?... If his physique doesn't look that well, it might affect the stage and end up looking not well as well.

Seriously, why isn't he managing himself (weight)? It doesn't really make sense."

In context, during TXT's stage, Huening Kai wore a black-fitted turtleneck-style long sleeve for "Good Boy Gone Bad." Through the performance, the celebrity showcased outstanding dance and singing skills, on top of his visuals.

But some were not satisfied with his supposed weight gain, which some people claimed as noticeable in his fitted top.

"It's obvious that he gained weight."

"Why does his tummy looks bloated."

"Is it just the clothes that he looked bigger?"

After this issue sparked, TXT's fans, MOAs, immediately defended the idol, explaining that it's only a matter waist or his Western blood. They also slammed the critics for pointing out things that don't matter.

"Isn't it just because he's big?... Because he has Western blood in him, his bone structure is just bigger."

" Isn't it because of his bone structure?"

"I think it looks cool. I can't believe people are calling him fat."

"Duh? It's because he has western blood that his bones are thicker."

"Stop this ignorance."

As the discussion went on, others agree that he really did gain weight, and that fans are the ones who have double standards.

"If it's a female idol they saw who gained weight, I'm sure communities will be in more chaos."

"Why is this waist issue? Anyone can tell he needs to lose weight."

"People are so generous to male idols."

On the other hand, TXT bagged the trophy for "Best Performance" in the male category during the 2022 MMA.

On November 28, TXT already departed from Korea to Osaka, Japan via Incheon International Airport to attend the 2022 MAMA Awards on Nov. 29, Day 1 of the ceremony.
