RM's "Indigo" recorded the fifth-highest first-day sales of any Korean solo album in Hanteo history! Keep reading to know how many copies of the record were sold in one day.

RM's 'Indigo' Achieves 5th Highest First-Day Sales of Any Soloist in Hanteo History

On Dec. 2, RM officially became the third BTS member to release a solo album, following J-Hope and Jin. Titled "Indigo," his album features a total of 10 songs featuring different artists such as Tablo, Anderson .Paak, Colde, Paul Blanco, Mahalia, Erykah Badu, Kim Sawol, and more.

The title track "Wild Flower," featuring Cho Youjeen (the vocalist of rock band Cherry Filter), is characterized by rock sounds and powerful energy coming from RM's rap and Cho Youjeen's vocals. In the song, the BTS member conveys his desire to live like a serene wild flower rather than an extravagant but immediately disappearing spark (literally meaning fire flower).

By the end of the day, RM's "Indigo" sold a total of 553,770 copies on the Hanteo Chart- breaking the fifth-highest first-day sales of any Korean soloist in history. The previous record was 477,571 copies set by trot singer Kim Ho Joong's "The Classic Album."

In addition, RM becomes the only fourth Korean soloist to surpass half a million sales on the first day of an album's release, following Lim Young Woong, EXO Baekhyun, and BTS Jin.

Furthermore, on the top 100 highest first-day sales of Korean albums in history, RM's "Indigo" lands on the No. 24 spot, taking over the position from NCT Dream's "Hello Future," which had 527,758 first-day sales.

RM's "Indigo" & "Wild Flower" Enter iTunes and Korean Music Charts

At approximately 3:05 a.m. KST on Dec. 3, RM's "Wild Flower" had already secured No. 1 in at least 87 different regions, including the five largest music markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, France, Canada, and Italy. As of this writing, the song is at No. 2 in Japan, another biggest music market in the world.

"Indigo" also reached No. 1 on the U.S iTunes Album chart, making RM the only second male Korean soloist to have an album and song sitting at No. 1 simultaneously on the iTunes charts in the United States. The first one to attain this feat is his fellow BTS member Suga with "Daechwita" and "D-2."

Additionally, RM joins Lizzo, Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, and BTS as the only acts in 2022 to have both a song and album hit the top of U.S. iTunes charts.

Additionally, RM's "Indigo" had already claimed first place on iTunes Album charts in at least 86 different countries at approximately 3:25 a.m. KST on Dec. 3, including Italy, Spain, Hong Kong, Denmark, Indonesia, Mexico, Finland, Chile, Ireland, New Zealand, Germany, and more.

Furthermore, RM's "Wild Flower" and "Indigo" debuted at No. 1 on the Worldwide iTunes Song chart and the Worldwide iTunes Album chart at the same time. The other nine songs in the album dominated the top 11 of the Worldwide iTunes Song chart.

In South Korea, "Wild Flower" landed on multiple major Korean music charts. It debuted at No. 13 on MelOn's real-time chart, No. 25 on Bugs, No. 39 on MelOn's Top 100, and No. 56 on Genie.

All 10 tracks included in RM's "Indigo" are simultaneously charting on MelOn's Top 100. The only other male soloist to achieve this feat is Lim Young Woong, which makes RM the only second one to do so.
