On Nov. 28, Red Velvet returned to the music scene with their sixth extended play "The ReVe Festival 2022 - Birthday" and its title track "Birthday."

On the same day, the EP sold an impressive total of 392,000 copies on the Hanteo Chart- smashing the quintet's previous first-day album sales record of 231,100 copies set by "The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm."

On Dec. 4, 33,274 more copies were sold, marking the group's second-highest daily sales within the album's first week of release.

From Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, Red Velvet's "The ReVe Festival 2022 - Birthday" sold a total of 496,874 copies, achieving the girl group's new highest first-week album sales on Hanteo. Their previous record was 443,922 copies set by their fifth EP "The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm" this past March.

"The ReVe Festival 2022 - Birthday" already signaled its success after it broke Red Velvet's personal record for the number of stock pre-orders. It recorded 712,187 pre-orders as of Nov. 27.

Additionally, the EP attained the sixth-highest stock pre-orders of any K-pop girl group album in history. The five K-pop girl group albums with higher number of stock pre-orders are BLACKPINK's "BORN PINK," aespa's "Girls," BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM," TWICE's "BETWEEN 1&2," and ITZY's "CHECKMATE."

Red Velvet Sweepts Top Spots of iTunes Charts With "The ReVe Festival 2022 - Birthday"

Shortly after it came out on Nov. 28, Red Velvet's latest EP shot to the top of iTunes Album charts in different regions around the world. Specifically, it ranked first in at least 47 countries including Brazil, Singapore, Thailand, Mexico, Hong Kong, Canada, Malaysia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Argentia, and more.

With that, "The ReVe Festival 2022 - Birthday" became the K-pop girl group album released this 2022 with the second-most No. 1s on iTunes, bested only by BLACKPINK's "BORN PINK" with 71 No. 1s. At the same time, it ranked first on the European iTunes Album Chart.

The EP went on to top the Worldwide iTunes Album chart, their seventh No. 1 album (the most for any female K-pop artist in history).

Red Velvet's new album also took first place on QQ Music's Digital Album Sales chart in China, as well as both its global and Korean Music Video charts. It even hit No. 1 on domestic daily album charts such as Hanteo, Hottracks, and Synnara.

Meanwhile, the album's title song "Birthday" debuted at No. 21 on the Worldwide iTunes Song chart, while the B-side song "On A Ride" entered the same tally at No. 180.

In South Korea, "Birthday" debuted at No. 1 on Bugs, No. 16 on Genie, and No. 19 on MelOn.
