BTS Jin's Enlistment Causes Military Community to Be Spammed by ARMYs- And Users Aren't Happy

On Dec. 16, several Korean media outlets including WIKITREE reported that the military app The Camp has been spammed with posts about BTS Jin.

After Jin's enlistment on the 13th, posts asking about his well-being poured out on the free bulletin board of the "5th Division Key Unit Family Love Room."

For instance, one ARMY asked, "Do you often include foods such as potatoes, garlic, and fish in their diet? Seokjin is allergic to potatoes, garlic, and fish. So, I want to ask if such foods are served often."

In response, Mr. A, who runs the 5th division community camp room, said, "This is not kindergarten! But the military understands all of this. So he gets to control his own diet."

The excessive posts about BTS Jin were followed by complaints from the other app users.

A parent who recently sent his son to a training center expressed his displeasure in a post, saying:

"I often come to The Camp to write a letter, but who is Seokjin? This is a place where we send them off to the military, give them courage, and communicate with each other. This is where we wish for the safety of our sons sent to the military and to comfort each other in difficult times. Please refrain from it [spamming]."

Other users voiced their dissatisfaction, such as:

"I don't think this is a place that's like a fan cafe where you can post randomly."

"The Camp is not only for BTS."

"It's so hard to find news about my son."

"Who is Kim Seokjin on the bulletin board? Do you know the word 'moderately'?"

He added, "I am also a father of a son who was discharged from the 5th division. In our camp room, we provide pensions, lunches, snacks, etc. near the unit for trainees whose parents or friends did not attend the Shinkyo University graduation ceremony."

He further said that after BTS Jin's enlistment in the 5th Division Shinkyo University, many fans joined the camp room. So to prevent the possibility of disturbing other users, he created a separate bulletin board for ARMYs.

At the same time, Mr. A made a request to the fans. He stated, "Don't send too many comforting letters online. If Shinkyo University's computer server is down due to the excessive consolation letters, it may not be possible for the current trainees, general trainees- who enlisted on the same day as Jin- to receive the letters from their parents and friends."

He also asked fans to refrain from sending handwritten letters or gifts to the military unit, as it may cause a heavy workload to the person in charge of the mails.

Lastly, he asked ARMYs to use the fan community Weverse as a way to communicate with Jin, instead of sending letters to the BTS member.
