The Boyz Eric Receives Flak As New Song 'Jet Lag' Has Similarities With B.A.P's 'Coffee Shop'

On December 21, IST Entertainment posted an announcement regarding Eric's upcoming song "4:03 (Jet Lag)."

The caption stated Eric will release this song for his birthday, as well as dedicate it towards his fans since he misses them.

However, the singer received flak after releasing the song, due to its similarities with B.A.P.'s "Coffee Shop."

People mentioned how Eric's self-composed song isn't just the same with "Coffee Shop" in terms of melody, but is also completely identical, leading suspicions of plagiarism. They also expressed how the possibility of copyright buying and song sampling are also possible.

"Even the melody aside, it's literally the same. So there's suspicions about it being plagiarized. At this rate, there's even talks about the possibility of him buying the copyrights of the songs. Or maybe it's actually a sampled song. If it's none of the above, it's just becoming a dumfounding situation."

"You're telling me this isn't a remake?"

"Even the top line is exactly the same, how can you shield this?"

"We're not talking about it being 'similar.' We're saying it's completely identical to B.A.P.'s 'Coffee Shop' all the way."

Fandoms Uncover Possible Plagiarism Involving The Song's Producer

As the discussion progressed on the online platform, the light shed turned to Dyan, the music producer for "4:03(Jet Lag)." The producer posted a series of Instagram stories and YouTube comments, which caught the attention of fans.

"Dude is honestly delusional. He doubled down on this and even released from which Youtube video he 'sampled', which is a piano version of Coffee Shop. The bio literally says so."

"Afterwards, he then goes to say that it doesn't even sound like it and talks about laws that states he is allowed to sample. Funny how he deleted the comments under his video but releases these statements on his unknown Instagram account with only 2 posts and under 600 followers."

Furthermore, the composer for "Coffee Shop" expressed thoughts on the matter.

"After sending the inquiry to the composer, they said that this isn't a free source song. SoundCloud is a non-profit app. However, B.A.P.'s 'Coffee Shop' is a meaningful song to us. And if this isn't a sampled melody, we would like to request feedback from Eric."
