Super Junior Apologizes For Defending Former Bandmate Kangin & Other Comments

On February 9, Super Junior Heechul guested on comedian BJ Choi's live broadcast in AfreecaTV. During the broadcast, attention was locked on Heechul because of his honest remarks on Kangin, cat moms, and ASTRO Cha Eun Woo.

Out of all the topics he was dipped in hot water with, Heechul's comments about Kangin received the most attention, since the member was embroiled in drunk driving and several offences.

On February 14, Heechul posted on his official Instagram. He apologized regardless of his thoughts' honesty and for using too much profanity, as well as displaying double standards in the broadcast.

Heechul also apologized to fans who were affected by his words and assured that such mistake will not happen again in the future.

Super Junior Heechul Receives Intense Backlash in Korea for Controversial Remarks

Super Junior Heechul is not one to shy away from his opinions, especially since he's one of K-pop's veteran idols out there. Unfortunately, the idol received backlash for expressing his opinions over a live broadcast with BJ Choi.

The live became viral due to the cast being under alcohol's influence, including Heechul. While live broadcasts usually cover a large portion of internet's attention, this one broke out for the wrong reasons.

On hist first comment, Heechul made a misogynist remark about the "women generation," and his criticism of not donating to charity. Heechul stated that the action was pointless since his donation was done secretly. Afterwards, Heechul then cursed them through a vulgar sequence.

In his next controversial remark, Heechul shares his close relationship with Bogyum. The Korean YouTuber is famously known for being misogynistic. It was followed him calling out Korea's resentment towards Japan, profanely calling the effort nonsense.

He also spoke negatively about women, who in their 20s or 40s, devote their time to cats. The idol then defended former Super Junior member Kangin. Although Heechul believes Kangin deserved to be punished for his actions, he also described him as someone who wouldn't back down from conflicts.

Heechul also caught flak when he depicted ASTRO Cha Eun Woo as an "alpha male," in which he portrayed as violent and protective.
