YG Audition Team Leader Reveals Benefits That Trainees Can Enjoy From Company
Among "BIG 3" K-pop companies, YG Entertainment is reportedly investing a lot in trainees.
In a recent vlog uploaded by WINNER Hoony (Lee Seung Hoon), he shared an interview with YG Entertainment audition and casting team leader Suk Eun Jae. In the video, the two revealed audition tips and behind-the-scenes of how a trainee's life is under the company.
In particular, most K-pop fans know that prior to becoming an idol, aspiring artists have to take on the hardships of trainee life. In the past, a lot of second and third-gen stars shared that it was extremely difficult– from following tight schedules, maintaining a diet, living in a cramped dormitory to practicing day till night in the company's basement.
However, contrary to this, YG Entertainment trainees were truly living comfortably despite hard training, thanks to the benefits that the company was offering.

Rather than being "hidden" in a basement, Suk Eun Jae revealed that trainees were encouraged to go out and play during their free time. What is shocking is that the company provides the trainees with their movie ticket fees as well!
Aside from movie tickets, YG trainees actually have the perks to attend concerts being held by artists under the same company, and they were given their own spots to maximize their concert experience.

These two were part of their social activities, which is also part of their training, but the difference is they are enjoying while learning!
Different from the experience of idols wherein they have to choose whether to train or study, YG actually encourages high school trainees to study well and pass their classes by providing them with tutors.
Lastly, if the trainee is lucky and talented enough, the chances of working in the entertainment scene even before their debut are high! Say for example, BLACKPINK Jisoo appearing in the "Producer" drama alongside 2NE1 Dara, Jennie and Rosé working with G-Dragon before debuting, or iKON and WINNER being able to perform with the "Kings of K-pop" BIGBANG.

She clarified that rather than paying it after debut, these were all investments from the company. All the trainees have to do is focus on making their careers successful!
This is truly different from other agencies whose training costs were counted as debts that they have to pay by working for free for years, depending on how fast they can establish their popularity and earn money.
