"They would've been in their 4th year this year, seems crazy thinking about it."

"Ah, it's been so long I haven't watched Section TV, only tears are coming out."

"Crazy, there are still pictures of them being released. I suddenly choked up."

"CJ and the companies were so nasty disbanding them like, those are dreams of young people and they destroy it just like that."

The End of Highly Potential Stardom: X1's Disbandment Shocks Industry

On January 6, 2020, each of the members' agencies of X1 members announced a press release, confirming the group's disbandment.

Read their full statement below:

"Hello.

This is Play M Entertainment, Yuehua, TOP Media, OUI, MBK, Woollim, DSP, Starship, and Brand New Music.

We are here to announce that all agencies have negotiated under a unanimous agreement, but could not conclude a compromise, ultimately leaving the option of disbandment."

Afterwards, CJ ENM followed up a statement saying, "CJ ENM tried to find a way for X1 to resume activities, but we respect the agencies' decision to disband the group."

X1's disbandment rooted from the voting manipulation cases for the "Produce" series involving PD (producing director) Ahn Joon Young, CP (chief producer) Kim Yong Bum and an assistant PD named "Lee."
