Amid high anticipation for Choi Yena's new song, "Hate Rodrigo" feat. (G)I-DLE Yuqi, music fans wonder if the singer is actually trying to snipe at international superstar Olivia Rodrigo for THESE reasons.

YENA Raises Comeback Anticipation With Teaser Posters for 2nd Single Album 'HATE XX'

Former IZ*ONE-turned-soloist Choi Yena (YENA) is heralding a comeback that aims to captivate all generations of K-pop fans!

On June 27, the singer is set to return to the music scene with her second single album, "HATE XX." This will be her first comeback in about five months after dropping "Love War" in January.

The first poster contains the lyrics of the title song, "Hate Rodrigo (Feat. (G)I-DLE Yuqi), wherein the singer expressed her cute jealousy toward the person she admires.

This is hinted at through the lyrics:

"Oh my god! You're my star / I'm not jealousy Rodrigo'"

In the second poster, some of the lyrics of the track, "WICKED LOVE" were released.

'I don't think I'll ever / fall in love again / I don't want it, I don't want it."

Is Choi YENA Dissing Olivia Rodrigo in Her New Song? Lyrics, MV Explained

While K-pop fans expressed high excitement about the singer's upcoming release, the title track, "Hate Rodrigo," is already becoming controversial ahead of its official release.

In particular, some music fans are skeptical about the title itself, which seemed to be a reference to American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo.

Watching the teaser video for the song's MV, Choi Yena flaunted a retro style and sensibility by wearing a colorful printed scarf like a hood and adding her hip charm by having pink hair and tinted sunglasses.

She showcased her cool charm by driving the car while licking at her ice cream directly from the cup.

Fans who watched this claimed that it was familiar and that's when people remembered that the same scene appeared in Olivia Rodrigo's "Deja vu" MV.

In another scene where Yena was seen with Yuqi, a photo of the international superstar from the "SOUR" era was seen in the background. This is not all, since Yena also dropped a photo similar to Olivia's photo.

Eventually, there are netizens who raised brows if the song is going to be a track to snipe at Olivia– raising curiosity as well if there is a "beef" between the two singers.

However, the company immediately shut down such a rumor by hinting that the album is more like to pay homage to the global star, rather than to diss on her.

"The title song "Hate Rodrigo" is a track that expresses the cute jealousy of 'I hate all people who are better than me!' and Choi Yena participated in writing and composing herself, proving her color."

Fans also defended Yena by pointing out that Olivia Rodrigo has contributed to and influenced a lot of the singer's music direction, thus, Yena can't diss Rodrigo.

Meanwhile, Choi Yena's new album will be released on the music site at 6 p.m. KST on June 27th. "HATE XX," which will be released in five months will contain a total of three attractive tracks, including "Hate Rodrigo," "BAD HOBBY" and "WICKED LOVE."
