During the 2023 Waterbomb event in Seoul, the "maknae line" aespa Winter and NingNing touched fans' hearts after the former was seen openly taking care of their youngest member.

On June 25, aespa members attended the last day of the "Waterbomb Seoul 2023," a three-day music event held at Jamsil Stadium.
From the 23rd to the 25th, the festival was celebrated by thousands of participants, along with the hottest artists Sunmi, BTOB Minhyuk, STAYC, Lee Young Ji and more.
Among the aforementioned artists, aespa's refreshing performances stood out as it truly quenched the thirst of viewers, and the stage became more fun as the quartet played water guns with the viewers.

Luckily, aespa's stage ended without any injuries, contrary to preceding artists who complained about hurting their eyes due to the water guns aimed at their faces.
In light of this, a heart-warming interaction between Winter and NingNing has been drawing attention after the former showed off her "older sister" energy to look after their youngest member.

In a video posted in online communities and SNS, the scene showed Winter asking NingNing, who was shot with a water gun, if she was okay.

In another clip, Winter also picked up the goggles for NingNing who dropped them while performing and carefully handed them to the latter.

When netizens saw how Winter took care of NingNing at the event, they praised the older member.

Meanwhile, prior to the event, aespa fans, MYs, initially showed their concern to NingNing and demanded SM exempt the group from the water-themed event.
This was due to the fact that MYs were worried that the audience would shoot NingNing in the eye with a water gun during the performance.

NingNing told Vogue China in March that her one eye was almost blind.
"I had surgery once when I was young because my eyes were so bad. That's why I can barely see my right eye."
The "Thirsty" singer confessed that she once suffered from acanthamoeba keratitis when she was young.

This is a rare disease yet a serious and threatening infection that could impair the eyes permanently. This is often caused by an acanthamoeba, a type of protozoa that lives in tap water, unmanaged swimming pools, and bath water.
Once it penetrates the cornea, it might cause inflammation, and in severe cases, it can lead to blindness.
