Ex-MBLAQ Thunder, Former gugudan Mimi Reveals Relationship Through Broadcast

Many K-pop idol couples reveal their relationships through media or the company's official statements, but Thunder and Mimi broke their dating news in the most fascinating way!

On July 13, former MBLAQ Thunder and Mimi (formerly of gugudan) revealed their romantic relationship through national television.

On this day, a preview for KBS2's "Second House" next episode was released, featuring the two who showed their closeness by linking arms with each other. Mimi then made a bold announcement.

"We've been dating (in secret) for four years now."

In addition, the caption, "The first unofficial couple in the entertainment industry to be unveiled," drew attention.

Following the broadcast's teaser video, fans are all surprised by the sudden news of Thunder and Mimi through "Second House."

Initially, some were not convinced by the two and thought that they were just only pranking viewers.

On the flip side, fans who have been supporting them since their debut said that they knew it all along and genuinely congratulated the idol couple.

Thunder & Mimi Confirm Dating News on Respective Instagram

Shortly after the broadcast, the couple certified their relationship by posting a picture of Thunder kissing Mimi's cheek.

The two also penned two separate letters to confirm it to their respective fandoms.

Thunder wrote:

"Hello, everyone. This is Thunder.

I've made a decision to announce my relationship with Mimi in public through 'Second House.'

At first, I have worries and lack courage, but I decided to be courageous for the person that I want to be with me for the rest of my life."

He continued to get fans' support and approval by adding:

"She's always been on my side to support me when I'm feeling lacking and insecure. Thus, from now on, I'm going to show you how happy I am and take responsibility, for Mimi, who has always supported me calmly, understood me warmly and kept me firm.

 I'm asking for your support, thank you. I would also like to express my gratitude to the fans who gave me love so far. I will not stop showing my good side as a passionate music artist. Stay tuned!"

Thunder also added a special note for Mimi, saying:

"P.S. Mimi who became the reason for my life... I love and thank you."

Along with him, Mimi also wrote to her fans.

"Hello everyone, I wanted to tell you first, but you learned about the news on TV.

So, I am writing a handwritten letter that contains my heart because I think the fans must have been very surprised by the sudden news.

I have found someone whom I want to spend my whole life with. He is a person who always protects me by my side during the time we spend together, gives me a lot of strength even in difficult times, and leads me to grow further. I wish you always be healthy and full of good things."

On July 14, the couple, through iMBC, made a bigger announcement that they will be tying the knot in the second half of 2024.
