aespa Winter Is So Introverted, She Almost Missed Opportunity To Debut as K-pop Idol
aespa Winter opened up about her struggles due to her introverted personality, revealing how it affects her daily life and career.
On July 18, Winter, the "all-rounder" of aespa, appeared as a special guest on KBS K-pop's "LeeMujin Service," hosted by Korean singer-songwriter Lee Mujin.
There, Winter revealed an anecdote about how she almost missed the opportunity to debut as an idol because of her being an introvert.
MC Lee asked Winter:
"I heard that your dream was clearly to become an idol from a long time ago. Is that right?"
Hearing this, the "Next Level" singer replied:
"Yes, I know that deep inside my heart, I've always wanted to become an idol since a long time ago. But because I am so introverted, I couldn't tell my parents that I want to become an idol!"
As a background, Winter came from a family of soldiers; thus, she initially considered being one as well, following his father and brother's footsteps.
However, she also confessed that it had always been her dream to become a celebrity ever since she was young.

Just then, Winter was scouted by SM Entertainment at a dance festival and she almost missed the chance if she didn't gain the courage to say it to her mother!
Winter narrated:
"It wasn't until I was scouted at the dance festival that I told my parents that I wanted to be a celebrity.
I told my mom, 'I was scouted.' When my mom asked me, 'Do you want to be an idol,' I answered, 'I actually want to be a celebrity."
Finally, Winter was able to ask for her parents' permission and the rest is history.
Upon hearing this story, Lee Mujin was surprised by Winter, saying:
"You are the most introverted in the world."
aespa Winter Shares Struggles as Introvert
As the broadcast went on, aespa Winter continued to share anecdotes caused by her introverted personality.
Winter shared:
"I couldn't even ring the bell (get off) when I got on the bus. I felt like I was getting some attention. So when someone got off at the next stop, I just got off together with them."
Winter even revealed she usually got off at the very last stop of the bus!
However, she explained:
"I went to the last stop often because our neighborhood was a stop before the last stop."
Eventually, Winter got better being with her extroverted aespa members, but she revealed that she still can't overcome shopping alone without AirPods – and it is RELATABLE!
"As I grew up, I got a little better. Actually, it's my first time saying this, but (even now) I can't shop without AirPods. When I look around, the staff would watch me so I say "Hello" and leave. Since the creation of AirPods, I have pressed the drop-off button and would think It's my own world, I feel like I'm alone."
