Seoul Subway Evacuates Line 9 Train Due to Reports of Gas Leaks

On July 6, Seoul's subway system evacuated passengers from a Line 9 train due to irregularities. Commuters disembarked the train after arriving at the Sinnonhyeon station and was followed by dispatched authorities.

According to a report from SBS News, it was disclosed that the cause was due to a gas scent. This resulted in a commotion, which led to the evacuation of passengers.

Police and fire department authorities at the scene claimed that a strange scent can be smelled, and that people panicked at the subway station. When the train reached the Sinnonhyeon station for its stop, a total of seven passengers were reportedly injured during the unloading.

On Twitter, user @nana_yen_, who was on the location, verified the situation since firefighters were dispatched at the scene and that there were information regarding strange smells.

After a thorough investigation, authorities later concluded that no unusual circumstances or defects were found.

Why Are ARMYs & BTS Getting Mentioned Online?

However, ARMY and BTS were mentioned by media sites, along with many netizens. For additional context, the incident also started as the day of Suga's final concert for "D-DAY" (August 6), which was held at the KSPO Dome.

Media sites were accused of giving out false information, due to claims of how the mass hysteria was started by ARMYs' loud behavior when Suga flaunted his "7" friendship tattoo on livestream.

These claims reportedly occurred when ARMYs were traveling back from the concert. Reports also included how the incident was due to "ARMYs' false knife attack alert," which earned the fandom's fury.

@bashore101 Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province are under special martial law due to the recent stabbings and the military police are watching social media. This led fans to trend "APOLOGIZE TO BTS" online.

ARMYs on site countered they were on a separate train and not the Line 9 convoy that was associated with the reported gas incident.

Nevertheless, the original poster still apologized for the fandom's behavior at the public area. The user wrote:

"I'm so sorry for going private for a bit. I just needed to collect my words for the explanation. To clarify, were not on the same train that had the gas smell and where the incident occurred.

The incident happened around 8:36 p.m. on the train heading to Gimpo Airport (I attached an article for proof), and we did not board that train. The train we were boarded on was headed to Sports Complex, and we lodged on 8:29 p.m. It did not reach Sports Complex until around 8:35 p.m., and this was still a few more stops from Sinnonhyeon Station.

These were not the same trains, so please stop dragging BTS and ARMY into what happened. The incident was caused by a gas smell. However, I still want to apologize again about how loud we were in a public place, as this wasn't the right way to act and there's no excuse for defending this.

ARMYs are kind-hearted people who intend no harm. I want to return again to clear out the confusion between the video and the (gas) incident. I'm sorry it took a while to explain, since I wanted to make sure to get the details correct."
