AKMU Suhyun opened up about her honest feelings about her hiatus of two years due to a slump, and revealed how she was able to overcome it.

Following their much-awaited comeback with the single, "Love Lee," on August 21, AKMU Suhyun revealed her true feelings after having a hiatus for about two years in a heartfelt letter.

On Instagram, Suhyun confessed that she went through a slump that lasted for three years, and that she's still in the process of overcoming it.

"I think it's been about three years. It was a time that was so long for me, a time that didn't flow. Now, I decided that I needed to live, and I wanted to live again."

She then recalled the difficult moments of her slump.

"I was actually very worried and scared while preparing for the comeback. But thanks to the support of my family, friends, and colleagues who care and love me, I gained strength.

I know that there are many people who loved me for my side who always smiled brightly and sang excitedly, so I didn't want to show them my current self.

I didn't go out of the house because I didn't want to be seen or recognized, so my time was stagnant inside for a long time."

As her letter continued, Suhyun then shared why she was slowly overcoming her slump and thanked people around her for helping her.

"But someone said this. The reason why people love AKMU is that from an early age, we've grown up together with the public while honestly singing and expressing ourselves without lying, showing changing faces as we age.

After hearing that, I decided not to try too hard to pretend, not to do so during this promotion, and to show my honest self even if I hear something unfortunate or hated as I am now.

I realized that I am loved much more than I thought. Reading countless words of concern, comfort and encouragement, such as, "I treasure you like a daughter,' 'like my niece,' 'like an older sister,' and 'like a younger sister,' were surely overwhelming encouragement. It is more than I could imagine. I realized I need to love and care for myself even more."

After thanking her older brother Lee Chanhyuk, the broadcasting staff and their fans, Suhyun once again asked for note support.

"If you don't mind, I want to work harder and go up one step at a time with the affectionate support you send me. If you wait for me with a little warmer eyes, I will continue to sing and repay you until the day my vocal cords fully functioned. I promise to repay you the happiness I received like a gift. Thank you."
