8TURN Shares Thoughts on Songwriting, How They See Themselves in Five Years Time in K-pop Scene, More in Exclusive Interview

Having debuted on January 30, 2023, with mini album "8TURNRISE" and title track "Tic Tac," 8TURN has spread their music and impact in the community, as TURNINGs (8TURN's fandom) are more than willing to support the boys in their journey.

On June 26, 8TURN finally made their first comeback with second mini album "Uncharted Drift," alongside its title track "Excel."

The group is comprised of eight members, which are Myungho, Jaeyun, Minho, Yoonsung, Haemin, Kyungmin, Yungyu, and Seungheon, who are ready to take on the global stage. Moreover, 8TURN is also under MNH Entertainment.

During the interview with KpopStarz, 8TURN was asked about their role models.

Who are the people who inspire each of you to reach for your goals?

Haemin: "I believe I inspire myself the most because I'm constantly envisioning my future and the possibilities ahead. I'm convinced that as I improve, a more impressive version of myself will naturally emerge."

Kyungmin: "It's the band One Direction for me! Whenever I'm going through tough times, I find their songs with hopeful and uplifting energy provide me with added strength and enthusiasm."

Seungheon: "Our fans really motivate me to run towards my goals."

Minho: "I believe the most inspiring individual is myself. I regularly ask myself questions and contemplate things. This routine not only sparks personal inspiration but also encourages me to reevaluate my objectives, instilling the determination needed to progress toward them."

8TURN was then asked about how they envision the group in the next five years. Each member also shared their thoughts on the topic of songwriting.

Here are 8TURN's answers for the listed interview questions:

How do you see 8TURN in five years in the music business?

Yoonsung: "I think we will be on a world tour, broadening our connection with fans on a global scale."

Yungyu: "I envision us becoming a beloved and esteemed group with widespread international fans!"

Myungho: "I hope we have already held concerts in Korea as well as abroad, establishing a prominent presence and recognition."

Jaeyun: "I really want us to become artists who travel the world, meeting all of our fans out there and connecting through our music."

Does each of you like songwriting in general? If so, please elaborate more on your answers.

Myungho: "I'm interested in both writing lyrics and composing! I haven't started it yet, but I think I will be very proud, awestruck, and joyful that lots of people will be grooving to the beat, melody, and lyrics I wrote."

Jaeyun: "I'm interested in both writing lyrics and composing, so I would love to perform the songs that I've written someday."

Minho: "I'm more interested in composing than writing lyrics. However, I find that I would do better writing lyrics because I'm quite emotional and fond of writing poems so I believe I can write more impactful lyrics."

Yoonsung: "I'm intrigued by both writing and composing, but the thing I want to try first is composing! I've got a fascination with both piano and guitar, so I'm eager to create a song with these instruments."

Haemin: "I've got my eye on both writing and composing, but currently, I started writing lyrics bit by bit, as it is something that is easier for me, so I'm gradually working on my lyrics! As for composing, I'm keen to experiment with writing melodies by writing top lines or chords."

Kyungmin: "I'm interested in both lyric writing and composing, so I'm putting in the effort these days! Initially, I was drawn to creating top lines, but lately, I'm more into making beats and the overall composing process. I would love to create a song from start to finish someday!"

Yungyu: "I've never tried composing before, so, at the moment, I'm more interested in lyric writing than composing."

Seungyeon: "Personally, I'm more interested in writing lyrics so that's what I'm working on at the moment!"
