THIS Idol Sent Fans into Frenzy with His Shocking Decision to Disband Group

In the wake of K-Pop's first-generation success, the Hallyu wave continued its surge with the introduction of second-generation artists, captivating fans worldwide.

Esteemed groups like Girls' Generation, Super Junior, Wonder Girls, SHINee, BIGBANG, 2NE1, TVXQ, KARA, INFINITE, and others dominated the K-Pop landscape.

Recently, KARA's Hur Youngji, an artist under DSP Media, engaged in a conversation with former DSP Media artist ONESTAR, also known as Lim Hanbyul. Together, they delved into their shared and distinct experiences within the Korean entertainment company.

The Mysterious Disbandment of A'ST1

ONESTAR, a gifted singer-songwriter, was previously a member of the multinational second-generation K-Pop group A'ST1 before becoming a part of Monday Kiz from 2010 to 2014.

A'ST1 had made their debut in 2008 but regrettably disbanded only a year later, despite their undeniable talent, catchy discography, and the successes of their labelmates SS501 and KARA.

This prompted fans to wonder why such a talented group had disbanded so prematurely. ONESTAR shed light on the behind-the-scenes circumstances.

ONESTAR revealed that the group had signed a standard seven-year contract, indicating their commitment to a long-term pursuit of their dreams.

However, before their second year as a group, DSP Media approached them with the disheartening news that they were likely to disband, with no album slated for their second year.

Faced with an uncertain future and no upcoming schedules, ONESTAR made the remarkable decision to volunteer the termination of the group's contracts, rather than languish in uncertainty awaiting an impending disbandment.

Hur Youngji commended ONESTAR's audacious response to the news of their imminent disbandment, hailing it as a bold move.

ONESTAR humorously added that once his contract was terminated, he wasted no time "breaking all the rules" as he embarked on a new chapter outside the company.
